11/12/11 - A visit to CAPSIDADBURN's home

Posted by Smiter Q, 16 November 2011 · 398 views

Been PM'ing back and forth forum member, Capsidadburn(aka Mike Farley.) He invited me to come see his grow, and for a taste of peppers, sauces, and such. I was eager to go. Went up this past Saturday, what a friendly guy! He spent several hours with me sharing his passion of growing, knowledge, insights, experiences, etc. The visit was PRICELESS for me, and I was really glad to meet him! At the end, I received some nice unexpected gifts in the form of seeds and 3 plants!

This photo shows the plants. form L to R:

Prik Ki Nu Hom
Beni Highlands
Inca Red Drop

Also... he shared some for me to take home too. I never had any of these before, so it was a learning experience for me. Some I used in a dish, and others I used for a salsa. Yummmm.. . both ways! (the purple bell was from Whole Foods)

Brian, Glad to have you come by. I am always happy to share with others. I probably forgot so many things I intended to say, but it was a pleasant experience and that is what counts.

The sample of pods you brought to me, specifically the dark red pequin like pod was surprisingly thick fleshed. The Bailey Pequin I have grown is paper thin walled full of seeds and juice. I look forward to trying some of these next season.

Thanks again, Mike
Very cool. See these are the stories I like to hear. When I go on the news it's every man for himself and middle finger to the world type of news. This feels down home. Where people have values and care about one another's feelings and well being. Glad the two of you had such a great experience and time together. :)
nice to read this blog entry...also 2nd picture is informative for a novice starter as me
