Into the drink

Into the drink (biking down the boat launch)
Summers in California can get pretty hot with
temperatures on the 100s not all that uncommon.
As we got a little older our range expanded to
include the local Folsom Lake. Rich and I would
ride our bikes down to the lake and spend the day
fishing, swimming, and just all...

2015 to Beyond; How my start-up hobby embarks on this great journey Before I begin...
I want to preface this journal by taking the time to thank everyone from this awesome community.  It was a confusing, rough start and without everyone's help from TheHotPepper.com, this would be a mere afterthought in the massive pile of unfinished projects and ideas I've heaped up over my life.

The set up this year

Posted by Dougthehead in Dougthehead's Grow Log 2015, 02 February 2015 · 869 views

The set up this year So, I decided to make a grow log to keep track of my steps this season.  I don't like to write much, but I do try to snap pictures of what I do, and that can tell most of the story. These first pictures are of the soil mix I made. The seeds were sown on January 29th.  On the 30th I got a propagation mat and added that underneath them.  The...

Posted by East Texas Heat in East Texas Heat's Blog, 19 January 2015 · 691 views

Well I got to set out my plants for some sunlight the last couple days, since the weather has been very nice. Thought I would post up a couple pics. I am not going to be winning any height contests, but these ladies aught to be ready by about the 20th of Mar I'm hoping.
First up the group shot, these are on a rotted out table I have sitting out in...

Been way too busy with work, Life and the peppers this year to update....my bad .
.....but finally a update.
First off...very very pissed off about these so called MOA Scotch Bonnets. Decent flavor(no slight citrus flavor) but hardly any heat to them. I ended up ripping 4 plants up as they are useless to me in my recipes and saved 2 to...

Congrats and Welcome to my lil corner ! :welcome:
I make no claim to be a master grower or a true knowledgeable pepper-head but I enjoy growing and experiencing new things and truly love and enjoy my type of hot peppers.

Seeing as a move to Jupiter is a sure thing now, I've decided to put a moratorium on growing any new plants between now and when I move in October. Reason being, it's gonna be a heck of a lot easier to move a bunch of seeds than growing plants. There's also another reason why I'm waiting until I move up there. There, I can use the back pat...

I absolutely love   Sydney, but the city didn't take too kindly in wanting my chilies to grow there.  Everything else I planted (various herbs, ginger, lime, eggplant, passionfruit, garlic, etc.) seemed to do pretty well there.  For the past couple of months, I have been living here in tropical Queensland.  I'm not a huge fan of the city that I...

Naga, Jolokia, Bhut, Bih and 3 more...

So it's been bugging me. Not sure why, but the Ghost Chilli has a whole shroud of vagueness about it that just left me mistified. Ontop of this all these seed merchants who rant and rave about all the different seeds with different names... that in essence are one and the same lol

So the Ghost Chilli comes from India... that general area of the globe....

Pods And Impatience

Posted by DeadLegs in DeadLegs' Blog, 12 August 2012 · 898 views

So the number of pods has sprung into the 90s now and several are vetting pretty massive but not a single solitary pod has started to ripen yet! I've picked like 2 still very green just out of curiosity and the heat is much higher on these guys than i had first believed. All i can say for sure is i'm even more excited for them to mature and...

The Rainbow is nice and developed with ample pods already on...

Planting Out, First Round.

plant out, pot-ups and 3 more...

Most of the original round of plants is outside in the ground, or in containers, and at the mercy of the elements!  We just had .2" of rain in five minutes, and the area all around us had hail and lightening, but we dodged the bullet on that one, so far.

There are three things that have been turning over in my head.

First the importance of...

Couple problems solved

Posted by dbarrym in dbarrym's Blog, 28 April 2012 · 1,134 views

Just a short update...last week I found some yellowing and necrotic spots on the leaves of the Savinas and orange Habs, and some of the newer additions, notably the Bhuts and Choc Habs, had leaves that weren't as dark as they should be. I suspected a Cal/Mag deficiency, so I sprayed everybody with an epsom salt/water spray, and followed up by watering...
