How did you cut that 'thang?

It looks beautificated!

Just a knife. It's how my mom taught me to cut pineapple so that you don't get one of those little hairy pineapple bits. :)

#1576303 Truff

Posted by Muckyai on 18 August 2018 - 08:52 PM in Hot Product Reviews and Discussion

New to me product I just read about. Truff, a truffle infused hot sauce that's being marketed to the snooty crowd.

Article states it's consistency makes it Instagram ready for food shots.

The snooty marketing for the product I personally find off putting. Truffle shaped lids? Too many excellent hot sauces to try rather than a sauce that thinks it's more elevated than the consumer.

Anyone try this one?

#1576192 First Painful Mistake.....

Posted by Muckyai on 18 August 2018 - 01:56 PM in Hot Pepper Talk

Happens to me several times weekly.. in spite of having nitrile gloves... because I keep thinking, "oh I'll just add some chopped peppers to supper, I won't need gloves, it's not as if I'm processing sauce."

Nothing really helps. The best cure is time and a stiff handbrush to try to scrub off that sticky capsaicin.

#1574889 Curry Thread

Posted by Muckyai on 11 August 2018 - 07:09 PM in Cooking With Fire!

This is fudging it a bit but the closest thread for supper.

Baked red snapper with curry sauce and sliced goat pepper, sauteed amaranth and steamed bok choy from the garden.

Also have amaranth grain cooking in the rice cooker but was too peckish to wait for that to finish cooking.

#1574829 Pepper rinsing

Posted by Muckyai on 11 August 2018 - 01:41 PM in Hot Pepper Talk

I wash my produce just before using them. If you wash then store it's most likely going to rot faster.

Any word on how the kid liked them?

#1574807 What are you adding to next years grow?

Posted by Muckyai on 11 August 2018 - 12:05 PM in Hot Pepper Talk

Lumbre as in fire or lumbre as in NuMex Lumbre peppers? I grew Numex Lumbre. Plenty hot for Anaheim but the uses were mostly limited to powder. I was not too thrilled with them fresh. Skin is tough and flesh is very thin.

The New Mexican chili. They are delicious with nice kick. Gotta pick them green and roast them.

Those sammies looks deeeeelicious! Tzatziki or mayo?

Tzatziki. I couldn't glob on mayo like that on a sammie and not rip my pants. Lol

Grilled some kabobs tonight in the dark. Got a little char on it but it sure was tasty. Didn't have any pita so had them as sliders. Yum! 17f891d478abb637b29a3edead24267f.jpg

#1573543 Favorite NEW TO YOU variety you grew this year

Posted by Muckyai on 05 August 2018 - 07:57 PM in Hot Pepper Talk

From the very beginning, this plant has been a beaut! Great purple "overlay" color over the green foliage. Then it started producing pods. They are all EXACTLY the same pheno. The pods start a deep black color, the purple lightens up, then it lightens up to a green, then finally they're supposed to ripen to red. I couldn't wait any longer and wanted to see if the purple placenta presented itself for me. I'd say so. 😏

Purple Ghost Scorpion from Mojo.
