smoking Cedar Plank bbq'n

I like the smell of cedar, but too much of it can be sickening. I have heard of this too, but I don't think it'd be my favorite.

We cook salmon on a cedar plank every time. There is no other way! LOL. Just make sure you soak the wood for atleast an hour or you will have undesireable results. And by undesireable I mean the wood will catch on fire and your house will burn down. I kid ;)

Not funny, Calgary... our house burned down in Jan. 2004!

The cedar plank is the only way to with salmon... To be safe, I'd soak overnight.

You should also try Alder planks. It seems to have a milder flavor than Cedar. I think that BBQ Galore sells them in three pack's.
