meteor shower tonight!

Too many lights in Los Angeles for viewing this. I can barely make out Mars most of the time....I miss CLeveland's clear skies....

sadly i missed them as well. was over at a friends house in the neighborhood for a keg party...11:45 rolled around and nothing, then a friend from upstate calls and says there are a few sites saying it wouldn't start till 2 or 3.

i woke up in bed with my pants on and a long sleeve shirt on..luckily i kicked off my shoes first! so i'm guessing i didn't make it to 2 or 3.

I went outside a couple times last night and looked...but like most folks, there's too much light polution here...you can barely make out the major constellations. I may have seen a couple...not really sure.

August before last I was up in the Rocky mountians of Colorado and you could lay down outside and see many shooting stars not to mention millions of stars, the Milky Way, etc. I want to go back there soon.

I'm lucky here. Albuquerque has a light odinance in place where lights can't all that bright. It makes for a scary and creepy parking lot sometimes, but you get to see the night sky.

: starts to pack up and move :

Come on out brutha!! Lion's Gate is opening up a huge studio here. I'm sure you could find work...and I know a few agents here in town.

Actually, the best time to see meteors is in August, when the Perseid meteor shower makes its appearance(and meteor activity is at it's highest). All you have to do is go out around 2:00 or 3:00 am and find a dark place and just lie on your back. When your eyes adjust to the dark, you'll suddenly see hundreds of little meteors going by. It's a really cool light show you get for free.

yea i saw them once a few years ago, but i forget what month it was. i do remember it was late though..at least 2am. its pretty amazing to watch, i wish there would've been some the other night..

i guess i'll have to make up for the missed show and drag the telescope out one of these nights.
