I had an idea... local pepper tasting parties. There are so many damn peppers, I'd really like to know what my favorites are.

There could be parties where each person could bring 5 peppers (fresh or powder) and each party would be a minimum of 5 people. That's 25 varieties minimum.

You could sample them alone, try them on food, and take notes. The notes could be posted here online for everyone, but attending one would be the best way.

Anywho just brainstorming here.

If this is a good idea let me know and I'll see what I can do to do some sort of organization.

The parties sound like a good idea, but who outside of the people on this site have more than five varieties to contribute? I mean we would bring 7-Pot, Scorpion, Naga Morich, Fatalii, and whatever, and they would bring cherry pepper, jalapeno, serrano, orange hab, and long hot. That along with bells and maybe an occasional thai or poblano are all that most people can get their hands on.
 
I don't grow many varieties of peppers....mostly because I don't think the soil here would sustain them. That, and I'm a crappy/lazy gardener.

But I'd be happy to show up and drink beer, cut-up, and sponge off the REAL pepper growers.;)

I'm wishing i was in either OZ or the US, Down here it's hard to find like minded individuals... i know crazy, who wouldn't want to get hammered and laugh at each other rolling around in pain lol
