Finally got mine, and I'm proud to show it off. See this link:

Blair’s 2006 Holiday Reserve has arrived

It's kinda cool, but it really does look a lot like the few reserves which have preceded it. I may take a break from the Blair's reserves for a while...and my checkbook will breathe a sigh of relief. :P

Do you just collec them or actually use them? I always use everything I purchase.. I figure if I spent the money I am eating it. lol and with the money on those reserves I wouldn't want to be eating it so I am leaning towards you being a collector!!

Cheers

Goonie,

To answer your question, I both collect AND use nearly everything I buy or otherwise acquire. Over the past several months, mostly due to reviewing stuff thru our blog, I have been far more into using than collecting. Stuff like the Blair Reserves, which I have been collecting for many years, are stuff that's purely for the display shelf. Besides the aesthetically pleasing aspects of the bottle, the contents within aren't exactly the most user-friendly. Layers of various kinds of extracts are neat, but have limited practical usage. Heck, we still have a bottle of Mild to Wild's "UnBEARable" that we'll likely still be using for many months (or years) to come due to its potency...but I digress. So yes, I am a collector...and a hot a sauce fanatic as well.

You oughta spend more time on our blog (shameless plug). You might shocked at what you might find there.

Then again...maybe not. :P

To open a Blair's Reserve is near sacriledge (besides the 2am & 3am). The collection I got will be my retirement fund one day...Hopefully.

Joe,

You may not have to worry about buying another reserve for a while. I read or heard somewhere that he is taking a break from making them. I can't find the link at the moment, but I know I heard that from somewhere.

Yep, that's true. It won't be until 2009/2010.

how would one acquire a fine specimen? never seen them

never mind :D
Too late now. You're looking at a three-fold incresae in price if you wished to purchase one via e-bay or a generous member of this site. In the future...
1) Go to extremefood.com
2) Subcribe to Blairs newsletter.
3) When the word goes out that he is now accepting orders for a new Reserve, ACT IMMEDIATELY. Pull out the credit card and place the order.
4) Pray that you acted fast enough.
5) Wait for god-knows-how-long until you actually see a box at your door (still waiting for MY Holiday Reserve).
6) While you're at it, sign up for DEFCON's newsletter as well!;)
