Famous Dave's BBQ

Ok had lunch with my sweetie here in Colorado Springs and the Brisket here at Daves frickin ROX!!!!!!
I had heard good things of this place in Denver and they just branched out down here. The spare ribs were awesome as well, (although I am a baby back rib guy myself) They have 5 different bbq sauces at the table and their original brags of Kansas City Championship awards. The Devils Spit sauce is their hot and its .....????? ....ok. Sneak a little EZ Earl in there and you got it all.
We also had the pulled pork and chicken, (well the wife ate some chicken) and it was all very good. When I go back It will be Heap big quantities if Brisket (Go there and eat Brisket!!)with some of those ribs as a side.

Thats all...I guess thats a Hillbilly review.
Thanks for readn my writn.

Famous Dave's Blog

I can't speak for their food but damn they need to stop using plastic ribs in their pictures. They are brown and dry!

I saw them on the Food Network and I say hell yeah! Looks good. I do get their bbq sauces here and am a big fan of the zesty one. He was a little guy that made it big so I say support him all the way.

It varies from restaurant to restaurant. Ours started out very good, one of my fav's, we nt back there a couple times and it just plain sucked! It was like eating left over ribs out of your fridge. Dry, chewy, not fall of the bone. If ever in Kenosha WI, don't go to our Famous Dave's. Although I do buy their sauce at the store. Kinda hard to f%$# that up.

what Jamison said. Loved ours when they opened bout 4 years ago, went back like 6 months ago, total crap....

Just crap

Famous Dave's.

: hocks a loogy and spits on the floor :

They "bbq" in electric ovens with wood pellets.

There's a reason FD doesn't come down around Austin or Lockhart Texas.

They'd be run outta' town.

I've only had Texas ribs once (home smoked near Beaumont), and they were easily the best ribs I've ever had. I really want to try ribs in Austin though. Hell, I really want to try ANY barbecue in Austin!

Best brisket I ever ate was at Blacks in Lockhart, just south of Austin.

Arguably the best on the planet is Franklin BBQ in Austin. Sadly I haven't been there yet.

Yep.

You're thinking of Kreuz Market and Smitty's.

Great joints but over run with tourists as there has been so much press on them, especially with the food channels.

The locals all go to Blacks.

I haven't eaten at the other 2 joints so dunno' which is better.

I would reckon they're all pretty dang good. Lockhart is a really small town and the fact that people from all over go there to check out the bbq joints speaks volumes.

I heard recently that Blacks will be opening up a second joint in Austin. That's a pretty ballsy move considering all the outstanding bbq joints in Austin.
