The Ginger Man

Went to this place in NYC last night with my brother and his girlfriend. None of us had an actual meal here, but they do have a menu with a your typical bar food available. The food is probably pretty decent based on the appetizers we had and the place itself. The big ticket item for this place however, is BEER! They had a ton of stuff on tap, and not just stuff, good stuff. I had a Gonzo Imperial Porter, Unibroue Trois Pistoles, Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast, 90 Min IPA, and Delerium Tremens and they were all on tap. That's only a small fraction of what was available on tap though. They also had a couple cask conditioned offerings.

One of the more interesting things we had was this flight of beers from Mikkeller. They created a control recipe and the only variable was the hops used for each beer. They had them all listed by which type of hops and you could pick however many you wanted to pay for. We got the "flight" which is 4 different smaller sized beers. We had cascade, centennial, chinook, and tomahawk. It was very cool to be able to directly contrast and compare some of the hops I've seen used in various beers. They had about 10 different beers utilizing different strain of hops...all of which were on tap. They also had a yeast series that were bottled. Same idea, everything is identical except one ingredient (the yeast in this case). We didn't try any of those though.
