Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin' Challenge

Well I just got back from the new Buffalo Wild Wings that opened up the road from my house today, when we ordered our food I told the waitress I wanted to do the Blazin' Challenge,
she had no idea what I was talking about. So she went and asked the manager about it, and apparently they don't do it at this restaurant, I was like WTF? , So I ordered a dozen Blazin' wings anyway...

My wings arrive all slathered in blazin sauce, first bite tasted like extract and I thought hrmm maybe these ARE gonna be really hot, it did build up to a nice all over burn but nothing "challenge" worthy,
the extract taste was strong enough to make me believe they were gonna be much hotter. Don't get me wrong these were not mild by any means but they also weren't much of a challenge to eat.

I guess my only problem with the sauce was it tasted like crap, my wife dipped her finger in it cause she wanted to see how hot it was and her reaction was "OMG that taste like crap" so we were both on the same page as far as the flavor was concerned.

To sum it all up , I was disappointed in the whole experience, first because they didnt do the challenge there and second because the blazin' sauce tasted terrible imo.

So I guess Im just gonna keep making my own wings at home using Defcon and some of the other great sauces I have. maybe they will build a Quaker Steak and Lube around here one day, so far all the wing places in my town suck.

The prices were pretty terrible too, the wife got "boneless" wings to share with my son and it was $7.99 for 8 of them (really a dollar a piece for basically chicken nuggets! ) they looked like the Chicken Nuggets from Wendys.

I experience the same issue here in Seattle, WA. I haven't run into any great wing places, most are mediocre at best. So far, the best wings I've had in Seattle are the ones I make with various sauces. I really like Defcon sauces for wings too.

Yeah the Blazin' at BWW is awful. Like you I was very disappointed with my experience at the BWW near me. It is not that hot, and I have had much hotter and much better tasting.

I also have to say that I feel the same way about Quaker Steak's atomic wings. I was not impressed by the heat level or the taste. But Quaker Steak now has a triple atomic that I have yet to try. I imagine that it will still taste like crap but it might at least have a respectable heat level.

I havent been to Quaker Steak since back before they were a franchise. I used to goto the original one in Sharon, PA when I was in college and they were the best wing place I'd ever been too and back then they were one of the first places to offer a wide variety of flavors beyond , just mild, med, hot and suicide which back then is all most places had as far as sauces, Ive havent been to any of the franchised "Lubes" I just hope that whenever I get to go to one it dosent ruin my memories of how good I remember it being. :)

I can honestly say that when Yoop and I went, the Triple Atomic wings were AWESOME! I dont know if they were an extract sauce or not, but they were pretty warm. They werent TOO warm to where you couldnt eat a lot of them. I would say right at the border. But they were sweet. Almost like they might have some honey in them or something.
Mojo, IF you bring your rearend up here, like you SAID you were gonne do, then we'll meet Yoop and eat at the same one he and I went to. Good stuff....
Besides, Im still a little scared to go somewhere and eat wings. The last time I went for wings, my truck caught on fire.....

Don't get me wrong. They have good sauces. The Louisiana Lickers are one of my favorite wings that I have had anywhere, but no heat. The Buckeye BBQ are a nice middle ground heat with a good BBQ flavor. I get the half split bucket of those two nearly every time I go. I am just not a big fan of the atomic wings that they have.

It is hard to find a good hot wing place, we have buffalos and zaxbys and a bunch of others but they all suck!! There is one lil place called Atlantas best hot wings. and they are awesome, you can order X, XX XXX crispy and X XX XXX wet, all flappers or drums!
Sometimes the lil out of the way places are worth checking out!

I just went to BWW for the first time on my birthday and wanted to taste the Blazin first before doing the challenge. It would suck to do a challenge when the food tastes bad. So I sampled the Blazin, and the Wild wings. Both sauces tasted like crap. I'm glad I didn't do the challenge would have been a waste of money.

I've had the blazing wings before and I pretty much agree. They aren't all that hot, and the taste could definitely be better. The BWW I went to did do the blazing challenge, so I got a free T-Shirt, which is pretty damn sweet IMO.
If you want some SERIOUSLY hot wings, make sure to check out Buffalo Cantina if you are ever in Brooklyn NY. They have a Seppuku Challenge which will damn near kill someone!

One wing restaurant I found and really liked is in Portland, Oregon. The place is called Fire on the Mountain, and there are two locations. Check it out if you live in Portland, or plan a visit: http://www.yelp.com/biz/fire-on-the-mountain-portland-2#query:Wings

I dont think the T-Shirts are free anymore at BWW, according to their website , in the rules of the Blazin' Challenge it says if you complete the challenge you earn the right to PURCHASE a blazin' challenge T-Shirt,
(right to purchase? what kind crap is that) lol

Wings up here are a rip off everywhere including the supermarket since the arrival of other nations. Prior to that not even available and now the most $$$$ part of a chicken.

Restaurant wise I visit my little Guyannese place and they have 2 types I always get plain and add their "Pepper Sauce" scotch bonnet plus their own mix of stuff. There's an endless supply but I get weird looks when I'm almost sucking on the squirt bottle with the sauce like a child breast feeding. Interesting that I/we eat hotter than they do.
