Orange Rocotto Peppers

Some of you might know these as Manzano Peppers. Anyway, has anyone grown these from seed? I planted mine the same time as my Limon Habs, but nothing is happening. I just want to try to get an idea of how long it takes them to germinate. There's not too much I can find about them on the web except for what they look like and that they have black seeds. Oh...they're supposed to be pretty hot as well.

I believe Manzano is differant that Rocotos.

I am growing rocotos this year. I soaked the seeds in water over night and then planted. It can take a bit for them to germinate. Took mine two and a half weeks.

I did not keep good records this year so I am not sure of exact days but i do remember that they were around a couple of weeks to germinate and that was only 3 out of 10 seeds. its not that more would not have germinated but Idid not have the patience to wait any longer. Both of these plants were sown on Feb. 26th.

Well, I just got back inside from watering everyone...

Did the Santa Ana Winds bypass Southern Cali this year? Geez...wind is whipping through here like crazy!!!

Anyway, I should post about my peppers more often. Two out of four of the Orange Rocotos have popped through the dirt!

Must be drinkin again....different THAN you mean.....

Manzanos is Mexican name for rocoto. Both are cap pubescens.

would have to agree with willard on this....
about the same as a chile and a pepper being different....
or obergine is different from eggplant.
same sh** different name.

D'oh! I read that Manzanos (Rocotos) grow like vines, is this true? I planted one in a pot and it's gotten about a foot big and isn't stopping.
