Have at it...

Kung-Foo (Any Asian cuisine with foo-foo presentation.)

BBQ and pizza need to return soon.

Discuss.

Being a bbq chef, and May being national bbq month, I will have to vote for bbq. While I may have a different definition of bbq than most folks, I'd suggest that anything cooked in the barbacoa style, whether on a pit or a grill, would qualify. I love my pizza too, but suck at cooking it, so my vote is for bbq!

Asian. What happened to honoring the victims of the tsunami in Japan?

Barbecue is nice, though.... guess one could do Asian barbecue.

New guy here so... i guess i don't have a say, but just how does this work. I thought that the judging would be at the end of April, but i guess not. Pardon my ignorance, and no i don't read directions either...

There's a new throwdown every month, SS. It usually goes for a weekend, with the judging starting on a Sunday night and ending on Tuesday.

We start talking about it as early as possible and go with the most popular idea.

Yes you do, everyone has a say here. Now that being said you might want to go back and read through some of the prior thorwdown discussion so that you dont bring up things that were shot down long ago like I did when I first joined. But don't think that you can't join in the discussion.

Now, so far I like everything that's been mentioned. Asian, always awsome and alot of spiciness can be thrown down there and I'm totally down with honoring the people of Japan. BBQ and Pizza are both great options with easy application of some heat. What really intrigued me as we were comming into the April TD though was the whole taking a cuisene that is not traditionally spicy and spicing it up. That would be a true challenge I think and we'd all have to be thinking outside the box. Of course, thinking out side that box thing seem to be a easy feat for the members here. So I', thinking something like a French or Gourmet Throwdown. Would be one where the whole plating and aumbiance would have to be Spot On. Oh, and as Sum mentioned during the voting, good clear pictures would almost be a must. Thought's?

I was thinking along the lines of a french fries(chips for us Aussies) TD. As the main ingredient, then like the Hot Dog TD add garnish/sauce/sides/toppings etc. Simple, easy and fun for lots of people to jump into.

French fries...I like it...Oh man, there are some crazy things you can do with that if you provide a LOOSE definition of a french fry (to include sweet potatoes, turnips, and such)

Given the pageantry and debate involved, I say we save bbq for the 4th of July (July 4th for the Aussies).

I really like the french fries idea.

Have we done a pasta throwdown? That could be fun too.
