I. CAN'T. STOP!

On impulse I just ordered another nine varieties of seed—plus I'm already waiting on the arrival of another four from a fellow member here! What is wrong with me??

Wow this is a massive thread.

Just thought id put up my pissy little effort.
(my first year growing)

Looks like im a little behind the ball but all is going well.

Running out of hot sauce and chillis for my relish.

Cheers Steve
Welcome, I wouldn't worry about being behind on the season as there's still plenty of time.

I can see Choc. Habanero, Scotch Bonnet Red, Thai and White Habanero tags in your photo. Are there any other varieties pictured in the photo?

G'day Harry, the scotch bonnets are actually yellow, thought I get some different colours happening.

Choc and white Hab and the ones on top the paper towel are red savina seeds from last years plant.

Ive got some bell peppers, fatali, birds eye, royal black and fiestas.

That pic was two days ago. They're realy coming along now....Yippee

My progress report for the week:
  • 6 Bishop's Hat seedlings up
  • 1 Chocolate Habanero seedling up plus one with a stuck seed cap
  • 2nd White Bhut seedling decided to make an appearance 4 weeks after the 1st
  • 1 Habanero White (Mild) seed found to have germinated
  • 2 Aji Cristal hook plus another germinated but both are afflicted with funky fungus
  • 1st 2 Locato pods are now 1 cm long
  • 1st 2 Datil flowers open

Saw this and thought I'd add my bit to it for this week. :)

I planted 10 Razzmatazz as a kind of trial (my first ever chili crop), about 3 weeks ago.
I'm a little surprised, but very happy, that all 10 have now germinated :D

I've moved one seedling indoors as the weather is being funny (storms etc),
and have another 4 seeds I'm attempting to germinate indoors.
(The 10/10 were germinated outside in a pot, hence why I was surprised)

I'll most likely throw a pic up here of them tomorrow (start of the week, yay!)

I know what its like gas. I've had to stop myself from getting anymore seeds, and it's not easy. I don't have room for the ones I have now. I'm making a list of varieties to get for next season.

I've already posted these pics in two threads but I have to show them here.
Found a worm and didn't notice the spider right next to it. I then recycled the worm

and the circle of life is complete :D

Whats the Razzmatazz? Is that like a burkes backyard variety or something? Or just a hyped up name for a birds eye or something?

Those caterpillars can sure go to work on your plants and they are so hard to see cos of their green colour, especially the baby ones, they are so easy to miss.

I now think that they leave a trail of black shit all over the leaves below where they have been feasting. I had this stuff all over a basil plant last season and it was obviously being eaten but I couldn't find what was causing it. So if I see black crap I know what to look for now.

And cabbage... I didn't even bother growing cabbage this year b/c I couldn't be bothered with those little batsards... They are Cabbage moth Larvae, check the undersides of the leaves for eggs.

It may very well be, the only other info on the pack is Capsicum Frutescens.
Whatever they are, they're well suited to pots, apparently.
Here's a pic of one in fruit, though...

If anyone -does- know the proper name/other names for them, please let me know :D

And these are images of my indoor guy

(I'm keeping him in a salsa jar under a lamp)

And the outside potted ones.

Haven't found one of those mini green houses for them yet, so prob gunna improvise with a juice bottle soon.

Razzamatazz looks a lot like Cajamarca I think. Not sure though, only looked briefly.
Cheers Rae :) I'll have a look at those and try to find out :)
Edit: Nah, these guys only give small pods :/
Thought maybe Bolivian Rainbow, but they're Annuum...
Just found a source that's saying they're Frutescens...
I've contacted the company to see what they say. Hopefully get a reply tomorrow (yay, Monday!) :)

My money is on the Razzamatazz being some kind of multi-colour ornamental Capsicum Annuum misidentified as a Capsicum Frutescens. I bought a pack last year and mulled over growing it to compare it to an ornamental in the garden. I didn't sow them back then as I had enough varieties.

I transplanted the plants that started on the 1st of August.

Top: Brazilian Starfish; Centre: Habanero Peach; Bottom: Goat's Weed

The young Goat's Weed plants came through unscathed from being split from a single 10 cm pot. The Habanero Peach plants are pictured above before I transplanted them earlier this evening. I decided to skip the 1.4 L / 14 cm pot increment and pot them in 3.0 L pots except for the smaller of the two Habanero Peach.

Datil plant prior to transplant

My over wintered Datil is the most compact bushy Capsicum Chinense I've grown thus far. This is the sole survivor of the 3 seedlings that came up last year in bad potting mix. Fingers crossed one or more of the first three flowers set to fruit. I transplanted it from a 17.5 cm pot to a 25 cm pot.

Nice to see your guys goin so well, Harry :)

No replies as of yet from the company...
Will give it another day or so before I harass another company who sells them :P
