DeBo's Grow Log 2011

Hey, so I decided to get my line wet and grow some peppers this year. Last year I started super late and got 5 jalapenos and about 5 bird's eye so I wanted to get a jump on things and I placed an order with Cross Country Nurseries for 12 plants.

I'm planting...

3 - 7 Pots
3 - Trinidad Scorpion
2 - Naga Morich
1 - Red Bhut Jolokia
1- Yellow Bhut Jolokia
1 - Chocolate Bhut Jolokia
1 - Red Savina

Received them exactly a week ago and have started them outside and in my make-shift green house while the temps are still a little cooler... Now onto the pics!

Here is the mini green house that keeps them out of the rain we have been having and keeps them warm at night

And here are my babies. Let me know what you guys think. Healthy? Need anything? Should I change anything up?

Those look great! Remember that peppers like moist soil but not wet. Wait for warmer temps and plant them babies!! Good luck with your plants.

Yeah they have only been watered once and the soil is staying out of the rain that's been coming down. Been around around 50s at night and by next week it will be in the 60s at night 70s during the day so I am going to plant then.

Can I pot them right away into their final pots? I was thinking about putting them in 5 gallon pots.

Nice plants! They look pretty happy, I think they like you and your place.

Partial time in your mini-GH will help with their hardening. If you've got the weather gods on your side, I would also think you could plant straight into their final destination after hardening....

They look really healthy…the bad of the bad.
I grew most of those last season and you are really going to love them!!
Hot – Hot – Hot!

Ahhh thanks guys, I'm really excited for this season. So happy I found this site, so much information and help. Heading to Burlington, Vt for the weekend and once I get back the weather will be in the 70s and sunny, so they will get into their final homes for the rest of the season on my return.

Quick question...I know that all these plants have long growing seasons of like 120 days but what does that exactly mean? From seed?

I have to say that they look very healthy.

Keep up the good work, harvest's only a couple of months away! :)

Welcome to my world, I'm just a little north of Burlington. My old stomping grounds…had a lot of fun growing up in Burlington, but needed a little more breathing room.

Good luck with your trip!!

Well, I started mine late February and probably won't be harvesting anything no sooner than mid August. My plant growth is way ahead of last season at this time, but I'm sticking with August.

I love it up there... especially Das Bier Haus in down town Burlington

Well haven't updated this in a while. There was a period where we were getting so much rain I think it really didn't help with much growth and it was pretty mild. Now its in the 80s-90s and I've started to see some good growth. Compared to everyone else's grows mine are small, I'd say 12-18 inches only. Many factors go into this I think, grow space, sunlight, too much rain. But I'm keeping my head up and I won't stop until the end of the season and I'll see where I am at then.

Anyway, just went out to check the plants after work and saw this little guy hanging...

I think it's a Naga Morich but some the name tags got mixed up when planting so who knows. :)
