Hello from Ohio

Just figured that I would drop and say hi since I am new to this forum. I have been a hot sauce fan for years however this is my first year trying to actually make it. It will only be for pleasure as I do not intend to go commercial(who knows my hot sauce may suck). But I do plan on giving it out to freinds and family. My wife thinks I am crazy because of all of the pepper plants I have planted. I have 12 habanero, 8 cayenne, 8 jalapeno, and 4 hungarian hots. Do you all think that this is too many plants for pretty much personal use?

Welcome to the Hot Pepper!

I'd say your were a slacker and need to get busy planting more! Growing peppers is fun, and if you end up with too many pods, you can always share them with friends.

There is no way I will get more plants this year my wife is already mad at me for taking up half the garden in the first place. I am a Toledo native but live in the cincinnati area. We finally have been getting some rain and my plants love it. I am starting to get some peppers on my Jalapenos already.

No rain on the north side of the state. Although the weather man talks about it a lot. Everythings crunchy...
Have you ever been to that Jungle Jim's place I've seen on Food Network?
Looks AMAZING!

No I have name been to Jungle Jims. There is also a place around here called Trader Joes. I generally buy hot sauce when I am on vacation or go to places were they have hot sauce that you generally can not find everywhere.

welcome to the boards! sounds like a decent amount of peppers to me..then again i'ven ever grown my own before..so i'm not really sure roughly how many will be on each plant.

Welcome! You are lucky to live in Ohio and many of the manufactures that post on this board will be at Jungle Jim's Weekend of Fire coming up in August. If you want to try out some really great products from a multitude of really great small manufacturers, then this would be the place to be the first weekend in August. :P -Lars-
