Anyone familiar with Puta peppers?

I'm currently growin these and have no idea when to harvest them-heres a pic to see how they are growing. Tried one a few days ago, and got nothing from it, so it must not have been ready. I've tried googling, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. The lady at the nursery said they were supposed to be hot.

wait until they turn a different color, I'd have to say at least 95% of chiles/peppers turn to a different color other than green.
as for not finding info about "that" name of chile dont be surprised of it being labled wrong!
I bought 2 "orange plum" hab type, I cant find info anywhere remotely with that name or with the shape of pods. the closest I can come to is "orange teapot" but then the pod sizes dont match or season length. I guess I'll have to wait until some of'em ripen to figure out what I have.

java - granted some chiles turn blackish/purple, which your chiles very well might do this or they might not ? I dont know.
but by the looks of it from that pic that blackish color is just something that happens to some chiles because of the sunlight.

like in this pic both plants are the same (naga jolokia) both get the same amount of sunlight (since both are next to each other outside) & both came from the same source.
granted the pic isnt the best for close up but you can see the one on the right turned more blackish on the pods & the stems vs the one on the left

I'm going to have to say that it's misslabeled. Puta tend to be round. That looks like a Piquin to me, so I'll say wait until it's red and then pick it. It should come off the plant very easally when tugged lightly.

Actually, it was labeled "Puta pepper tree"- don't know if that helps, but they are all black now ( the riper pods) so I'll try one this afternoon and let you all know.

Everything that I have looked up has pointed towards the piquin as well -- GardenWebs and Wikipedia

Not sure now, but I have left them on for a bit to see if they turn to red. I'm more sure the blackness is from the sun, as the backside of the chilis are still green, so I turned the pot. We'll see.

You are correct, peppers will turn black from sun exposure (which is fine).
