Air Layering/Marcotting

Does or has anyone air layered their pepper plants? I've air layered other plants but never peppers and was wondering If they work well this way for clones.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but it isn't necessary. They're fairly easy to clone, no need to use complicated techniques like air layering.

Air layering is almost a 100% success.

Not too complicated. In fact its easier! :) Take a peat pellet, moisten it, wrap it around a node, cover with saran wrap, rubber band it shut, wrap with an opaque film (tin foil) so the roots wont shy away from the light, then wait. After a week or two, peel back the foil and look for roots. If you're in the clear, snip the little bastard and transplant! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

+1 Yes! The added benefit is; you don't lose the plant or seriously cut it back. :)

If you say so, I've never actually tried I was just going from the tutorials I've seen when I was researching air layering some citrus trees. :D You still wound the stem before putting on the peat pellet don't you, or is that not even necessary with peppers?

I successfully propogated a cherry tree (small branch of course) using air layering. It's a fun process to toy with. I suggest buying a syringe to inject water if the moisture lever ever falls, which it very well may depending on how you close off the ends.

Just a suggestion from experience, though you may not ever need it... again depending
