You know what really grinds my gears?

Title stolen from Peter Griffin.

This is a rant thread. Feel free to complain about anything you want or pay no attention to it at all. I'm sure there are others but I'm too lazy to look for them.

Here's the issue that made me do this: I just went through a few threads in the Pepper Growing Forum and couldn't believe some of the photos. I'm not knocking anyone's skills or equipment. My skills are lame and my camera is a point and shoot. What I'm knocking is the decision to post some of them. Holy crap stop wasting people's time and the sites bandwidth posting pics that are so darn fuzzy and out of focus you can't tell if it's a freaking pepper or an orange or red turd!

With today's cameras, and cell phone picture taking capabilities, you can take as many pictures as you want for nothing! You can go through them at your leisure and pick out a couple of good ones. If you can't take one or two pics that are in focus after a few thousand attempts maybe you should get some advice or practice more. Bottom line is if nobody can tell what the picture is what's the point in posting it?

I hope no one takes this personal, just doing a bit of venting.

Carry on.

I agree with you Patrick. Some of those photos are so frustrating to figure out, especially when someone is asking for help with a problem. It is very easy for anybody to take great photos these days on the cheapest devices. Just need a little practice and weed out the bad ones.

Well said.

You know what really grinds MY gears?? When people make threads bashing other people and making fun of them. If somebody does something that you don't like, leave them alone, don't reply in the topic saying something mean. Instead, make a reply in their post something like "can you go and try to take a more clear picture? This one is a bit blurry".

/end rant

You know what grinds my gears? People that think they are better at the internet than everyone else. I come here to talk about peppers, shoot the bull and meet some people. I am not here to have a contest who can take a whiz better into cyberspace.

Nothing really grinds my gears, including folks getting their gears grinded. At least not today. I actually laugh a lot when I see a chili!!! with or without beans???, how do I epsom salts???, or yeah- what kinda grow light should I blah blah blah/ thread... hahaha I think I may have posted an epsom salts one myself at some point....

you always know it is a "classic" thread when willard busts out the "use the forum search button" suggestion

edit for misplaced quotation marks, leaving "grinded"

Hahahaha

I grind my gears, no wait i mill them...

Oh yeah and people that say grinded instead of ground, they just make me smile!

U know what grinds my gears.stereo types and hypocrite .I just hate it when I am in the work place and someone winds up telling u get to work u slacker or get off that cell or no eating on the job especially when that hypocrite is your own boss who breaks all of his rules,is that how u set an example.....no!and let us not forget stereo types,I despise them the most!and How about when u see to dudes walking down the street and the person next to u says check those two out they must be gay!well in retrospect arent u a dude walking down the street next to me!damn stereo types!and that's what really grinds my gears!.ahhhhhhhhhhhhh -ahem excuse me

I'm just going to go with one annoyance. It really grinds my gears when people rush into a thread about someones organic garden just to stir up a debate. Start your own thread if you just want to argue about organic vs. conventional gardening.

Nothing grinds my gears these days...
All my teeth got smoothed out, all I got is round smooth disks...

I do find people using abbreviations are annoying though at times.
A lot of them can mean several things and the one used at the time usually takes an hour to figure out what they mean.
Same goes for stuff like R U a brd <3R?
I think thats supposed to be Are you a bird lover...not sure, saw it somewhere and had to ask what <3 (heart+r) brd was.
I guess they will replace spelling class in school soon with Texting 101. :)

What grinds my gears are people who beg for seeds and then are never seen again, or are seen only on e-bay selling those seeds. Also people that make up new fancy marketing names for peppers, especially with unstable crosses that will not grow true. The name usually describes the pepper somewhat but if its unstable it will likely not grow like that ever again, so the name is generally useless
Also people that swear on public forums really annoy me

Oh boy... here we go... How about not pushing the clutch ALL the way in?!?!?!?! LOL

P.S. anytime anyone starts out with "This is a rant thread", and "complain if you want",.. "or pay no attention at all".....
That so UN-grinds my gears! You totally have the option at that point to "change the channel". Sometimes ya-just-gotta-rant!

Laugh more...
