BigRob's 2011 Grow Log

Hi there, I went against my better judgement and purchased my seeds from ebay.

For around $13 shipped I got 20 Bhut Jalokia Seeds, 20 Trinidad Scorpions and he threw in 10 Tasmanian Reds for free.

I started them in Sow-N-Grow Peet Pellets and transplanted them outside after 6 weeks. And so far am very satisfied, except I'm still not sure these are the correct peppers. Ive never grown any of these before and my pods, so far, dont seem to look like anyone else's Ive seen. The Jalokias are a very pale yellow, nearly white and the scorps are very round and growing upside down (see pic)...

Anyway heres a look, tell me what you think...

After 2 weeks!!!

WOW, i am no pro, but it appears to me that you have been had! the Tazmanian red might be correct but that is Definatly not a scorpon and the other one is not a Bhut Jolokia! Ebay has taken another victim! if you check the marketplace here you can find guys that will sell you some true bhut, and scorpion seeds! sucks to hear! hopefully you can contact them and they will make it right!

Yeah, just checked my ebay and that seller is no longer listed... figures.

Theres always next season
Oh well, guess I'll be buying some trinidads from AJ...

Any clue what those are???

Oh well, too bad you didn't get what you expected, but those peppers still look pretty cool. Are they at least tasty?

I've heard so many horror stories from eBay. I'd check our the hippy seed co, or ask around the forums. Check the marketplace. Sorry bro, but look on the bright side, at least they are growing, whatever they are!

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear about what you expected didn't grow that way. Well I guess you are stuck with pepper plants that you really dont know what they are. I can try to help with one of them

Scorps???

I think it is Peperoncino.. I am growing it as well. Its round hot pepper (a little hotter than Pepperoncini). Spanish pepper. Used for stuffing.

Bhut Jalokia??
I think hammerfall might be right with 1st one being hungarian wax. If they start growing to orange I think he is right with that.

Hope that helps!

The bhut jolokias looks like hot bananas/hungarian hot wax
and your scorps looks like peppadews (or WORSE , some kind of Solanum poisonous nightshade), heres hoping that its an edible peppadew.

Yeap, there's always next season. Check out the Buying Pepper seeds online thread for good sellers, its pinned on this forum.

Good luck! And your current plants looks really healthy :)

I was thinking they looked like banana peppers. As far as my counterfeit scorps and taz reds go, I think I'll play it safe and avoid eating them...
Unless I can find a friend to be a guinea pig...

Take one as a snack and have a sit-down rest on your walk by the emergency room. Have the healthy "snack" there. In the waiting room would be even better, while waiting for a friend(who might be the doctor if it is poisonous).......just thinking out loud. Send me one I will try it.
