Chilli Experiment

Ok sunday night i had a dirty donar and i asked for some extra chillies as you do I think they were peperoncini he gave me about 6 which was great. I got home munched the kebab and started on the chillies and noticed a hole in two of the chillies like a grub hole, so i left them two to one side after i had finished i thought see if any seeds are ok. So i stuck them on a cutting board and carefully cut them open No bugs but most of the seeds were black or marked so I covered them with kitchen paper and left them over night to dry a little then monday afternoon I managed to get some seeds form both pods and rapped them in tissue and put them in a polystyrene Cup and covered with a saltpetre solution, I Then put the cup onto a polystyrene plate and put that on top of my boiler in the airing cupbord. I forgot about them until a hour ago when i took them out. It looks like some had already geminated so i have put about a inch of potting mix at the bottom of one of my pickling jars and put some tissue on top of that so the seeds can be seen.

I placed the seeds on the tissue and sprayed with water

and then covered the top with cling film/saran wrap and put the lid on

then put onto a polystyrene plate and put it back onto the boiler.

I don't know if pickled chilles seeds can be grown or if anyone has tried but i thought i give it a go and i keep you informed it now very late in the season here which i think is comeing to a close in a month or so but you never know they might just get big enough to overwinter and at the very least i'll know if kabab shop chillies can be grown after pickling.
