Black Pearl...

Quick question about Black Pearls... Are they supposed to pop dark leaves or do they gradually change to the darker color over time? I have a plant in DWC that is doing wonder but the leaves are all green and some have slight spots and area of darker coloring.

No expert, but the black pearls I've grown usually started green(although very dark) with slight black accents that intensified over time.

Sounds like my plant is pretty much on track then.... This is the first one I've grown and never seen one in person before so I thought I might have gotten one that just said "hey, I think i'll stay green!"

Thanks!

The leaves even in the adults can still show some green........

Don't know the science behind it but it's got something to do with light. Maybe your light isn't giving them enough of whatever it is that causes the blackening? I dunno. But that being said, I've had plants out in the sun that were supposed to go black but didn't either. Not much help? OK, I should stop now....

I had a black prince this year which is a similar variety. It stayed pretty green while it was in my office, but once I moved it out in full sun, it blackened up quite nicely.

I have a black pearl in an airgarden hydro setup
Mines doing the same thing I just thought it was the hydro setup.
I'll try moving one of my grow lights next to it and see if it darkens .
It has baby buds though.
