Super Tasters

So I've heard of ppl called super tasters that can taste better then others, or some such. I've been eating a lot of Jolokias and honestly Im getting sick of the bitter taste its adding to the food. Are my tastes buds bad? Cuz I love the heat on this lasagna macaroni but the bitter taste of the Jolokias is killing the flavor for me.

Honestly, it's a matter of opinion man. Some people love habaneros, some don't.. for example(I love hot stuff.. hate orange habs bc of the after taste you get) Some people think bhut jolokias taste bad and acidic, I love bhuts, the taste they give to a recipe.. etc.. If your gettin bored with bhut flavor, try out some 7pods or scotch bonnets, even fataliis. Any of those will throw your tastebuds in a different direction. Your taste buds aren't bad my friend. You just need a new pepper flavor :)

I don't know anything about tasting but I know that my taster changes all the time.

If I am eating too much of one kind of food then I go off it. Like it just bruises my taste buds and it tastes like crap. That is not theoretical :high: it is real :mope:

Another interesting fact is the melding of taste that occurs with peppers. I am still trying to figure this out but pepper tastes change with the type of food products you put with them and the time they have been together; at least in my opinion :eh: If I throw different peppers into the salsa then it tastes different. Example; For thanksgiving I threw some Tepin and Dorset and some mixed powder in with some tomato/red onion/cilantro and mixed up a salsa. The heat hit the back of my throat and just warmed my tongue and slightly warmed my lips. Then after like 3-4 days I had it again and it warmed my lips and mouth equally and very light throat warmth. So I would say it was a product of the Time and not the Ingredients

I am going to grow a large amount of different peppers this year just so I can experiment with flavors and foods. That is what a physicist does.

Super tasters, having a keen eye, able to hear a pin drop, being able to smell it from a mile away, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound,....well maybe not.... :)
I agree some people have more sensitive taste buds than others. I also agree with Brandon, everyone has their own personal taste when it comes to the flav of chili's. Also I can see how its possible to build up a tolerance for heat without ever acquiring a pleasuable taste, with certain peppers. I really enjoy tha taste of the "Bonnets, Congo's and the Caribbean Red's" . There's just something about the typical orange hab that I just don't like..... :(

I agree Bhuts tend to give me a sour face when i eat them fresh.
Acidic would be how i would describe them.
How ever I really enjoy then dried out they take a different flavor.

I really enjoy they 7pod taste especially the yellow7

Good point,

The Yellow 7/Pot has an amazing aroma, and an outstanding taste quite different from other 7 Pots...
