growing ginseng/yellowroot/goldenseal?

trying to think of a way to make a small amount of extra cash by growing something that was profitable without having to grow it in bulk; and i remembered going hunting for yellowroot and ginseng when i was younger, and thought the answer might be there...

does anyone know anything on the subject? i don't really know anything about them atm.
(though i did find that it takes about 8 years for ginseng roots to be ready )

what i'm really trying to find right now is stuff like; can they be grown in containters, and if so how big a pot would each variety require, and the prices.

ginseng can be grown in a pot but it wont be wild simulated or wild ginseng so for profit wise it will be nearly worthless. it also has to go dormant. you can buy live roots to plant they range anywhere from 1.00 to 6.00 depending on age of the root.
also ginseng likes it somewhat shaded.
