Small Stuff

We had a garden composed of many different kinds of veggies this year, some were successful, some weren't. We did get buckets of peppers, but they were....tiny peppers? They'd turn ripe when they weren't even one joint of your finger long. We did have some bell peppers that grew to full size, but our jalapeno's are tiny. We still have one pod that's pretty darn big.

For some reason the peppers started growing very late and are still growing into october. I'm going to grow habs next spring now that I have the seeds.

I'll go out and take some pictures in a few minutes

Welcome Ken!

Are you sure the peppers were jalapeƱos and not another variety that was mislabeled?

You don't give your location, but a lot of us had cool springs with a very late freeze. Peppers don't like having cold feet, and I know that slowed mine down by several weeks. Our plant out date 'round here is usually the first week of April, and I still had plants in the cold frame in May this year.

Are your plants in the ground or in pots? While I have a few in pots, the bulk of mine are in the ground.

Yes our plants started early summer, maybe even late spring. I'm' in Albany, NY. We had green beans first, then some others which grew pretty nice.

All of our plants were in the ground. We put fertilizer over the top, a thick layer, then the bottom was a bit sandy.

I think we planted the plants too close since we only had a small area this year. This year we're going to make the garden longer.
