Excellent. Just dont let your GLOG clog, especially if its the gassy one.

I keep scratching my head about start dates, and mid-Feb seems good for a lot of varieties, even the hot ones. I started some early to test some stuff, but my main grow just now getting under way. Good luck....

Start dates really are custom to what you would like to grow, expectations, region and what you have to work with. I have limited light, growing area indoors. I need to start later indoors so I can keep them in a range of size that will keep them growing healthily until they can be hardened off In the spring. Some people want to try and get multiple harvest out of their plants (and have the room for the plants to get big indoors or a way to extend the growing season for themselves) I'm still a noob to peppers and how different varieties will react and produce. You can all stumble along this path with me. I might not produce pods lol but god dang it, I'm sure to produce entertainment. Thanks for the well wishes. :hell:

This is the perfect time to start seeds in our area, If you plant in a location with full sun you will have a harvest or two. Get those dang seeds go'in. Start early, or finish late...

Well said, I'm in a similar indoor boat. I'll try to extend some early plants with a mini-greenhouse, but patience in starting is a big key. I'll be shaking my fist at the sky if this Spring turns out as cold and long as last year.

Looking forward to the 'entertainment.' Heh, people ask me, "What do you do in Boise for fun, watch the plants grow??"

Good luck on your grow, .6King! Can't wait to hear about your progress.
Us GLOGs have got to stick together!

Oh, man, you could have gone all night without saying that!
I don't know if I can stand a third lousy Spring in a row :banghead:

I guess some people just don't know how to have fun :D

Boise.....I'd be distilling some vodka with all of those potatoes....wait I don't drink anymore... scratch that. I'd be building the worlds biggest spud launcher.

Good luck on your grow, .6King! Can't wait to hear about your progress.

Damn you live in the state I most want to visit, you SON OF A (I'm sure a very nice woman) I'm here man, I ain't goin'a nowhere. I'm trying to be patient with my start date. But dammit if I can't but almost cringe at the thought of waiting any longer to get my Hot little bastards growin'

Alright ya pepper freaks. This is going to be my home ghetto grow. (The rest of my peppers are going to be grown at my buddies house. That's where the main set up is going to be) My place doesn't have the accommodations for anything spectacular...so I'm making due with what works, so I can have some F'in pepper friends too.

This will almost be like two Glogs at once....one you will see the main setup and two, you will be able to follow the mystery grow at home. Which will be grown with what I have laying around and then planted in my small backyard in the spring.

Let the ghetto grow commence!! (other grow will be posted within the week)

Tri-Color Variegata and Wild Brazilian soaking in PH solution.

This is the corner where the shanannigans will go down. I'm going to have to set something up to enclose the grow space. It is in my bedroom......lol. Hoping It won't be hard to control the temp. I'm thinking of using candle warmers to warm the clay pots. Maybe put a washcloth on top of the candle warmer to dissipate some of the heat. I will let you all know how that works out. I've got my Aztec wood carving for good mojo and a pic of my girlfriend because she is hot and hot things like to hang out together. I've got two clay pots with water trays, water setting out to dissipate gaseous shizzle, a cup of Jiffy seed starting mix and two plastic seed trays. All will sit tonight, then I will soak my Jiffy in the morning and get the seeds germing by nightfall. Updates soon.

Alright, the seeds have soaked, I've built a semi enclosure "Plant Hollywood" and I've prepared the seed trays with Jiffy seed starter and two seeds of each type. This is starting to get interesting. :hell:
I filled the bottom about 2-1/2 inches up with Jiffy and recessed the seed trays into the mix. I'm hoping this will help with watering and incubation. (I threw two seeds into that Jiffy as well, just in the ones in the trays don't germ. lol)

This is "Plant Hollywood" (A little ghetto, but made with love) I ran out of tinfoil or there would be a flap of it on the front face of the enclosure. I love it....now I have to figure out how to conceal the light at night so I can sleep, without smothering the plants. The light on top is a full spectrum Lizard light. I will be replacing the bulb with a 65W CFL 6500k as soon as I get to the store.
IMG_0486.jpg

The heat from this incandescent bulb should keep the temp up. Once I replace it with the CFL, I'm thinking of placing the clay pots on candle warmers. This way the the jiffy around the tray will warm and keep the seed trays warm as well.....In theory that is...lol I have no idea what temp it will keep it at, whether it be too hot or too cold...IDK. It's an experimental process. I might just cut another hole on top and keep the Lizard light in the enclosure with the CFL. That way I keep the heat in there and more light. I'll have to think about it. Might just test both out and see which one works. Everyone's assholes are welcome to speak up, because I love opinions and other ideas.

Doing this has made my day....now to wait and see if they pop. (the seeds are right on top, covered with very minimal Jiffy. I received the seeds through the seed train 2012...hope you guys packed some fertile spawns!!!

Added these plastic cups for a greenhouse effect :hell:

Good luckwith your grow 3/5! I hope they rock it for ya. I can't complain about weather, but if I did it would be that its so damn nice for weeks at a time that you think you just might be able to plant out NOW! Then out of nowhere, a frost comes through and crushes your dreams of a Feb plant out. It was almost 80 here today!

Lookin good dude! The "ghetto" setup you got goin is pretty legit though :) way to make it happen. It's all about making due with what you have. "Plant hollywood" lol, that gave me a good laugh. Good luck with your grow this year man.

Thanks guys. I like it. I put tinfoil panels on the front and back to close it up so I can sleep at night. I checked the temp before bed and it was getting pretty warm in there, so I closed it back up and cut the lamp off. The clay pots where really warm (and I believe they will maintain a lot of that heat they have absorbed) So for now I turned it off, once I get that CFL, I think I will leave on the Lizard bulb with the foil doors off during the day and then close up the doors and hour before bed and then turn off the lizard bulb and leave on the CFL until the morning.

I hope these seeds pop quick....I don't need the suspense of a 15 day germination period....as long as they germ I will be happy though.

Looking good 3/5. Good luck this year. And remember, it's better to have temps lower than optimal than higher than optimal. Temps dropping a bit at night might not be a bad thing. After all, that's what happens in nature. :)

right on, the temp of the soil rose to 90 lastnight when I closed up the enclosure. So I turned off the heat lamp and let them rest overnight. Today I just left it open and the soil sits around 84 degrees. Very nice. I added some more seeds in a wet paper towel get up. Will see if they germ. If they do, I will figure something out. lol

Nothin's popped in my mini grow setup yet, I have started the grow area at my buddy's house though. I have pics to give you the TOUR. All the seeds are soaking and we will be putting them in the greenhouse tomorrow and mounting lights in the grow space.

"Brew and Grow'. Sweet! Your little ghetto set-up almost looks like a little pepper shrine, my man! Definitely qualifies! I am looking forward to seeing how it goes in your 'tale of two places' - keep up the good work!

Thanks Paul. Well the shrine finally paid off. I have my first sprout! Interestingly enough, I mentioned how I put two seeds in the jiffy that surrounds the cells. The Tri-color Variegata popped up on the side of the clay pot tonight...lol. I wasn't expecting that. It's just barely poking it's head through tonight. I am going to leave the dome on and keep it moist for tonight and see where it's at tomorrow. Then I have to make a decision as to what I will do with it. The seeds in the cells haven't popped yet. This is encouraging me though. I think the others should pop soon. Definitely gives a renewed energy to see some green pokin' through.

1/4 Tri-Color Variegata
0/4 Wild Brazil
0/4 Scotch Bonnet Cross

5 Days for first life to shine through. Hoping to see some more action tomorrow. I will keep you all posted. I also will have pictures of the grow spot at my buddies house. The lights are hung, we are looking into some mylar, humidifier and fan. Updates to come.
