Hey Chuck!!!

I'm going to post this up here instead of PM-ing you. I think people could learn something.

Anyway--

Do you ever have the problem of not having enough product to go around? My list is a mile long and unfortunately, I just don't have enough sauce to spread the love. I'm hoping on a good 2nd harvest, but I'm not banking on it.

What do you do? I ask this as an amateur sauce maker...there's a lot of us out there!

I don't sell my home made sauce that often so I usually don't have that problem except right now I'm getting ready for an art show where I'll have a demo booth and sell a bunch. We did it last year and it was a blast.

So...I'm making hot sauce tonight.

If you mean you don't have enough home grown peppers to make all the sauce you want to, yeah that happens too and sometimes ( especially last year during the drought) I have to resort to store bought chiles. They're not as good as the ones I grow myself but they get the job done. Fortunately most of the grocery stores here stock fresh habaneros. Sometimes you have to really shop around because it's hard to find good, fresh ones. They tend to leave them on the shelf way too long.

I had a hell of a time fiding the little 4 ounce jars I can it in. The places I was getting them discontinued them. That was another problem. I finally found them at Callahan's General Store.

I guess I'm just jumping in a little too quickly! I don't sell mine really, just mostly give 'em away. Some people send me money just to be nice.

I hear ya about the store bought peppers. I was in Whole Paycheck..err...Whole Foods yesterday and their Habs were horrendous. Some of them were sporting 5 o'clock shadows...EEESH!

The problem with store bought Habs is the price as well! The local Beullars Grocery store has Habs at 8.99 per pound while Giant Eagle has small amounts for 3.99 per pound and the local farmers market has them for 2.00 per pound. The new supplier I have charges be 20.00 per bushel or about 1.00 per pound. See living in an apartment I don't have the luxery of growing large amounts of my own so I have to buy them.

Well, eventually I'll have to buy them. But I have more plants than normal in the ground. I thought I could fill all of my "orders" this year. It just keeps growing!!
