Well, that soil sounds like it will work well in pots. Just do the fertilizer thing, you should be fine!
 
Awesome, I'll get some chicken "waste" and urea.
I would have liked to try your desert sand, perhaps I'll have the chance someday.
 
The native soil here has a lot of gravel in it. Very small gravel, but it's pretty sandy too. It's hard to describe. Um....here...

Yeah the faded mountains, the end of the southern rockies. There are so many colors in the rocks out there, beautiful place. I live right next to Pikes Peak, tallest part of the Rockies.

Scarecrow... That mountain isn't part of the Rockies. It's actually a small series of mountains called..."The Sandias" (go figure...).

But, it looks like our soil is about the same.
