Can I grow store bought garlic says fresh but who knows

Most of the store bought garlic around here is foreign, mostly from China I believe. I'd find some grown locally, there are many varieties grown in Ontario. I think a lot of garlic around here is planted in October so you might be a little late. My soil has too much clay for rootcrops but I'm slowly ammending one section with sand, compost, and gypsum.
Many a times have I grown the store baught garlic and it did just fine. It is a fall to winter crop though.
ill see next spring...1 minus my buddy never brought the straw for the top...im thinking its a lost cause now because of the freeze we just had but hey who knows
