first time hydro grow

sup everyone?!

i took a bunch of cuttings off a 'butch t' scorpion im growing and they were taking too long to root, so i washed the soil off some of my other plants and transplanted them into dwc bubble buckets. i do have one butch t that rooted quick enough

Very nice plants you got! The roots are like perfect, white and healthy.

How strong air pump do you use for those 5 buckets? How many gallons are the buckets? What nutrients and at what rate are you running? What light?

That's a lot of questions but I'm really interested in your growing :) I have some DWC buckets myself but I left them outside in the cold weather so they didn't do too good. Moved them inside greenhouse days ago and things are getting better.

Wouah really nice !
Thanks, exactly like ColoradoRonin, post like yours make me want to start that kind of project!

Congrats! Show us more pics!

thanks fellas!

slashroot - the air pump is a general hydroponics dual diphram, the buckets are 5 gallons, i'm using house and garden aqua flakes fertilizer. my lighting is HID. the ballast is adjustable from 600w-750w-1000w, im currently using it on the 600w setting and yesterday swapped my metal halide bulb for high pressure sodium.... lots of flowers to follow!!!

Thank you for sharing the details :) That tent you got sure looks like my secret jardin dark room 120, or just a look alike?

I grew too many plants in my tent this year, next year I will limit it to 4 plants. My problem is when I have too many plants and they grow crowded they simply don't get enough light each which result to bad produce.

Would be interesting to try MH and HPS lighting but the electric bills here are insane. I'm only using a 600W LED for my tent, higher buy off price but hopefully saved over time by lower power consumption.

Keep us updated with your progress! Will be following your glog

hey guys!

looking for a little advice...

as the plants have been getting larger, its been more and more difficult to keep them standing up after checking ph/ppm. any staking recommendations?

^pain in the ass

I don't know exactly how you can do it hydroponically....maybe loosly tie string around the thick part of the plant and then tie it up above on a pole in the tent to keep it upright....

Hell, could you use a regular plastic composite container rod and just put it through the hydroton, the basket, and rest it on the bottom of the bucket?

i have a 6 bucket set up, i took them and just linked them together in a loop to a 7th bucket, with a small air pump used to circulate the water, there is only one ph/nute check and doesn't disturb the plants, inside the reservoir use an air line poked into the 1/2 water line, the air creates a siphon and pumps a gentle 4.75 gph, here is a diagram from {note #3}

you can get those green garden stakes and jam them into the hydroton and tie up the plants. i ahve yet to have this issue with my hydro platns as they are outside so the trunks are super thick and stable.
i have to support the lateral branches but the trunk is 3" in diameter

The first year I did my DWC I has the same issue check PPM/PH and switching out the water every 2 weeks. The next year I built a RDWC with a controller bucket like pepperdan... You can check out my setup here:
