"Chili Red" from Bonnies

Hi Everyone,
First of all, sorry for not uploading a picture (the pepper is not quite ripe yet so I want to wait until that happens) but I was wondering if anyone has grown the "Chili Red" variety from Bonnies Plants. I believe this is a hybrid of some sort but is there really an official pepper variety called "Chili Red"?

For those who have grown the Chili Red from Bonnies before, what does the taste/heat level compare to? Thanks.

I picked up one of these and it is starting to bloom. I am curious what it could be, they have pics of them on their website and claim 30,000-50,000 SHU.

I just sent them an e-mail asking about them. Waiting for a reply.

I received a reponse back from Bonnies about these peppers.

My name is Freeman Agnew and I am the Head Plug Grower in Union Springs, AL. I am responsible for growing a bulk of the plugs used in the eastern half of the United States, plus I do some of the seed ordering and buying. I also help out with customer service questions from time to time when they are unable to answer one.

The Red Chile plant is a generic hot red chili pepper plant. Our website describes it, and our seed source describes it this way too (http://bonnieplants.com/products/vegetables/peppers/chili-red-hot-pepper ). This is an open pollinated seed that can have varied genetic differences from year to year. The only way that we can provide this plant on the quantity that we produce is to use the open pollinated seed. The pepper breeding industry is many years behind the tomato breeding industry, but it is quickly catching up to named varieties.

I have one of these red's also. I saw it at Lowes,or HD I think? I've had one hangin about 2 weeks'ish, and still waiting to turn. I've noticed the flowers die more on this plant, than any other of my plants.

Thanks junk. Once my pod turns red I'll post a pic in either this thread or the pepper ID section and hopefully other members might be able to provide additional insight.

Mine is just starting to produce flower buds and I too wonder what mine will be and will post pics of them when ready. That e-mail was quite vague, maybe they do not know what they have, or it is their own hybrid, but hey, for a buck I will not pass up a pepper plant.
