What should I do with the birds in my "plant kennel"?

I have caught these birds twice in my "plant kennel". It's basically a 4x4x4 dog kennel made of chain-link. Birds are squeezing through the holes to get to my plants. The first day I saw them, I just frightened them to make them fly into the sides of the kennel. They have eaten about 40 seedlings. I am going to do it differently next time and use mesh instead of chain-link. Anyway, caught them a second time and every time one of the birds tried to fly away, I threw a handful of pebbles at them. I know, I know, it sound pretty bad, but I was just trying to teach 'em a lesson. My step-dad said the next time they come, I should snap their necks. What do you guys think?

Best is a mesh cover, cheap and easy. I also favor shooting too, cheap and easy (unless they are endangered or illegal to kill). Your choice.

I heard a story about a lady who did not have much money. She saved some seeds to start a garden (bean I think). After she spent a lot of time and work prepping her garden she planted the seeds and was quite proud of the job she did. As it turns out a rooster was paying attention to her and went through the row of seeds pecking at the ground and eating all her seeds.

The lady caught that rooster and had a nice supper that night, but not before removing all the seeds from that rooster's stomach and replanting her seeds it ate. The story ends with the seeds growing and producing for her a few months later.

attach bird netting over the kennel if you want full sun, 30% shadecloth if you need it. Let the birds go, they are just doing their job.

Go to WallyWorld ( I mean Walmart) and buy netting like 4 fruit trees ( Cheap) easy to work with . You can put it close to your plant or spread it over your entire kennel and also get a good single cock pellet rifle ;once you start shooting at them they get the message and tend to stay awayor put your kennel on rubber pads so it doesn't touch the ground , then hook an electrical cord to wire and plug it in ( but that is the EVIL WAY) Good Luck JT
