Chinese PentColor (5color) Peach Pepper

I got these Chinese PentColor (5Color) Peach Pepper seeds ( direct translation) from China last year while I visited, started in march, as far as I know, we dont have these in North America, so I'm uploading some pics to share with everyone.

From what I gathered about these Chinese PentColor Peach Peppers (Lets call it "Chinese 5PP" shall we?), have "Peach Shapes" hence the name, and they turn from creamy light green -> Purple --> Orange ---> Red, now, thats only 4 I counted, maybe I missed one color. I only have 1 plant so far that have fruit on it, and have 2 more just starting to get fruit. The size of the fruit is about 3cm X 3cm (Canadian here, so I dont know how to use inches, sorry). Its bigger than the Numex Twilight, and you will notice on the pictures, its not a uniform color Change, its this strange color morph, kinda like pattern on a snake. If I'm to name it, I would call it: "Chinese QuadColor Snake" or something along that line. It almost have no pepper taste to me, I took one raw, does have some heat, but taste like grass or leaf, yes, I tried grass before LOL, dont ask.

Since China is the founding place of Bonsai, and I love bonsai,so I went to China hopeing to get some rare bonsai pepper seeds, and the lady from this bonsai shop sold me these. However, I dont think this would make a good bonsai plant since the leaves are bigger than the Numex, However, the leaves are very elegant and nicely shaped.

Anyone know any good Bonsai peppers with small leaves and would be ok with relatively low light enviroment and small fruit?

Here are the picture!

Enjoy

I'm trying to cross these with Numex Twilight to give it more color, this should look great if there are more colors on it, anyone got any experience with this?

Have a nice day!

While I'm not sure about the peach shape, I know that there are people here (including me) growing Chinese 5 color plants. Mine have smaller pods and leaves, so there must be some variation. Pretty plant though.

I think the color you're missing is yellow/green (yellow/green > cream > purple > orange > red).

As far as bonsai goes, you may want to ask PaulG. As I recall he's done quite a few.

Hi Rabid, I think they named it "peach pepper" because its suppose to look like a type of Chinese peach turned upright, here is a picture to give you an idea :)

anyways, where did u get the seeds? It would be great if I can get seeds closer from home, did ur peppers taste like peppers?

I got the seeds in a mystery pack from AjiJoe earlier this season (in the marketplace area of the site). I haven't tried one yet because they're not ripe yet.

They could be a cross, too, since the pods look a little different. I have a feeling there will be some people offering seeds for them after the season.

Same as yours, Purple, Cream (wihite), Yellow, Orange, and Red. They have ALOT of seeds in them and they taste good to me. Alot of people have a 50/50 taste for them. They are ornamentals so they have that kind of taste. We love them, so it just depends. I really like how your peppers look. I would love to get some of those seeds. Whould you have anymore available by chance for trade?
