Growing & Inventory management: what's your system?

I just got finished with labelling and shipping a little over 100 seed packets to about 20 people. Now, the numbers aren't huge, but it was still a substantial amount of detail-oriented work, and it seems to be the kind that could be helped with some software. I could easily see software tracking grow logs to seed harvests to drying to re-packaging to distribution, but does anybody do this here? If so, what software packages would you recommend? I keep thinking of chemical inventory/ELN systems I've used at work, but there must be alternatives.

Right now, I use an Excel spreadsheet, but I got to think there's something better (because it sucks.)

Any thoughts?
