chinense My Review of the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T

Nice job with the ButchT bro! Still waiting on mine to produce, they are being stubbornly slow for me lol. Awesome looking pod too! :fireball:

Those Butch Ts will never again pass my lips in whole pod form. I still have to do a bit a quality assurance on the regular, but whole pod, never, ever, ever again! Never thought I was going die from a pepper before. Good on ya for handling it!

Thanks for the kind words guys. It was certainly a hot little effer. If it had hit the back of my throat as hard as it hit my salivary glands I would have looked a lot worse off. I can handle the mouth burn much better than the throat burn. I've been very impressed by the pod shapes I've gotten from this plant. I'd say at least 95% of the pods have a true scorpion shape to them. In contrast, a plant grown from the same seed stock that I gave to my brother has not yielded a single pod that has the classic scorpion stinger to it. I haven't tasted one of his pods to determine if they pack the same heat as these do, so I can't attest to whether or not they are true. But I'm reasonably assured that the pods I'm getting are true.

Is this the hottest at the moment

Is that a question on whether it's the hottest in the world, or whether this is the hottest I've had?

Both answers are no.

The Trinidad Scorpion Moruga Blend (AKA Moruga Scorpion) is currently the world's hottest, although Guinness still recognizes the Butch T AFAIK.

Before the 7 Pot Jonah review I did, the 7 Pot Barrackpore and the 7 Pot Brainstrain had been the hottest I had reviewed. The 7 Pot Jonah that I ate in my review bested those two by quite a bit. The hottest pod I've ever eaten is a toss up between that Jonah and a Yellow 7 Pot Brainstrain I ate a few months back. The Brainstrain I ate made me throw up while the Jonah didn't, but my tolerance has increased a lot since I've eaten that Yellow Brain.

My BTs seem to hit my tongue and lower mouth really hard, also couldn't eat em alone after the first bite I needed FOOD! Great review!

They taste terrible imo. Amazingly powerful heat though.

My butch T's are producing about 90-95% properly shaped pods as well. I think the crazy high temperatures we have been seeing are responsible for it, but its just a theory.

Same here. The pod shape is being very consistent.

dang your yellow brainstrain was hotter than the red,or have you not tried a red?

Only reason why I ask is (because my exp) from what I hear, yellows tend to be lower in the heat compared to the red. Better tasting tho!!

Tried my first naga morich last week, and was surprised by the lack of heat:( Was hot, just less than I would have guessed.
I still have a jonah in the freezer, but I'm to scared to eat that one whole....LOL

Great review(good lighting,and clear!)

Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review!

I've eaten two red Brainstrains and 2 yellows now. The first brain I ever ate was a yellow and it was the hottest to me. Now having said that, my tolerance was considerably lower at the time, so I attribute a lot of that to the lower tolerance. I ate a second one a short while after that and it didn't seem near as hot. The two reds I ate were from romy6 and from Judy. They were about the same heatwise but seemed like they weren't as hot as that yellow I first ate (but again tolerance is a lot higher now). And yes, yellows tend to be milder than reds in my experience as well. That's why I'm chalking up the perceived higher burn of that first yellow to lower tolerance. But I've still yet to eat a Brainstrain (yellow or red) that is in the league of the this Moruga Scorpion, or this Butch T.

Watch each linked video above to see what I mean (the underlined text).

Also regarding the Naga Morich. From what I understand they have pretty much the same variability in heat as the Bhut Jolokia. According to this CPI study, Bhuts can range from a little less than 1.6 million all the way down to a little less than 300,000. So there is a huge amount of variability on pod heat with them.

My naga moriches seem to be less hot than my bhut jolokias and bih jolokias. I don't think they are as hot. The Jonahs are wicked hot and taste awesome. I also think the flavor of the bhut jolokia is better than the naga moriches and bih jolokias. What's your opinion on the flavor of the naga moriches compared to bhut jolokias? That's what really disappointed me.

Hrm, my experience has been different with Naga Morich. I think they have been just as hot as bhut jolokias and they share a similar flavor to me. They actually are a bit milder in flavor in my opinion.
