What is this?

Hey all,

I was sold seed for this a while back as a Bhut Jolokia. However, after many months of growing and finally getting pods I think I have discovered that it is not a Bhut Jolokia. I don't know what it is though, any thoughts?

Thanks!

I see only two pods mature enough to be ripening and they are fairly different in shape. Might need to wait a bit longer to see what the *average* shaped mature pod looks like, though I'm suspecting you have a BJ -something_else hybrid. The example pod randomly happens to look like a chocolate jamaican / red hab crossbreed I have growing this year while the 2nd ripening pot doesn't so much. Anyway my random guess is BJ-hab hybrid.

Thanks all, appreciate the feedback. From what I have seen on the Internet, Bhut Jolokias can look like a couple of other peppers at early stages such as a Trinidad Scorpion or Devil's Tongue. The shapes tend to vary greatly. I tried a ripe pepper from the plant above, and it was a great flavor but with only maybe habanero heat. I thought these peppers were odd in that they weren't shiny either. They all have a dull look. I'm still new to peppers, so I don't know if that means anything or not.

I didn't know how to move this thread and i wasn't aware of the Pepper I.D. section before I posted this. So, I started a new thread under Pepper I.D. here: http://thehotpepper.com/topic/33086-supposed-to-be-a-bhut-jolokia-but/

Hey all, I have an update for this pepper. I still don't know what it is, but here are some photos that might help. I looked at photos on the internet and they kind of look like dorset nagas?
