Hello from The Netherlands

Hi all,

Saying hello from The Netherlands, just so you know I am browsing the forum a bit, and hopefully one day can contribute as well.
I am Felix, and quite possibly a new pepper growing addict.

For the last 5 weeks I have a small number of peppers growing in pots. (in a window sill and on my balcony)
The pepper seedlings were given to me by my sister in law, as she sow to many seeds.
Since the package she opened (supermarket assorted veggies) only said peppers, the variaty is unknown untill today.
I think it will be "Dutch pepper" which should be closely related to cayenne, if not completely the same.

A small photo when I received the peppers.

And some photo's from today...are those buds forming? I that normal for such a small plant?

The plants are now around 6-8 weeks old since sowing. The white pots I had laying around and about 6 inch squared.
In the orange pot is a seedling from a Red Jalapeno (if that pepper even exists) took about 2 weeks to pop his head above the soil.

Note. After receiving the peppers they were already aphid infected, so when repotting I gave them a water/garlic/dishwashing soap bath. Since that day the aphids have not reappeared yet. I think I found the recipe for this insecticide on THP! Thanks ;-)

Best regards,
Felix

:welcome: from sunny South Florida! :woohoo:

:welcome: from the PacificNorthWest, Felix!
Always good to see another balcony grower on the forum.

Check out Beehunter for sure.

Hi :)
I'm from holland too ^^
I've only been growing peppers for 2 years so i can't be sure but i think those aren't anything like cayenne (c. annuum)
They look more like c. chinense to me.
At least that is how my naga morich and scotch bonnet seedlings looked like at that stage.

Thank you all for having me and giving me a warm welcome!
It is nice to see a few more Dutchies on the forum too. And there are quite a few more european dudes and dudettes on here I see.

If what I photographed are going to be flowers (middle photo) then there are already 7 forming in the top. Can't wait to see what happens!

Cheers,
Felix

Welcome from.................Chicago

Yes, those are buds which will soon open (flowers)...
Some folks tend to pinch off the 1st buds so the plant will produce more energy into
additional stem and foliage growth. For the balconey grower I'd recommend leaving the buds on. As the plant gets larger (under a meter tall), I'd pinch off the growing tips to produce inner growth and force the plant to grow into a shrublike form. Its difficult to obtain a strong light source for a window taller plant since the sun is at a higher angle. Thus the smaller plants thrive ...
Good luck with the grow and enjoy your time here...

Greg
