Taco Bells 'Fire" sauce

Ok I love the taste of this stuff, I put it on alot ofstuff other than tacos. Its good on sandwhiches, fries, hash browns, hamburgers, potato chips etc........

Why is it called Fire sauce?? It isnt even remotely hot, like I cant even feel heat in my mouth after eating a couple of tacos or a burrito using 10 packages of it. Are my tastbuds dead from all of the punishment over the years or is it really not hot at all? And if its not why call it Fire sauce?

Anyone remember the sauce they had about 10 years ago that was supposed to be hot?? Had all of the guys taking a bite and jumping around yelling "WOOHOO"? Was that hot? I never ate any.

Before I was a chile head I remember thinking that it had a little heat. So yes, our taste buds are de-sensitized.

I like their hot sauce, but looking at the ingredients makes me a little queasy..xantham gum, sodium benzoate......

That was FIRE sauce. Are you confused?

They had a sauce about 10 years ago that you could order on your food and they said it was hot. All I remember about the commercials is one of them had Monks who hadnt spoken in years and would never speak again and one of them eats a burrito with it on it and he jumps up yelling "WOOHOO!!!". Then the others take a bite and do the samething.

Like everything else in this world, TB probably have to make it safe enough for complete idiots to use. Otherwise, if it was a true hot sauce, someone would probably squirt it in their eye and sue them. (I really am a cynic!!)

We have a fast food chain here called Nando's who make chicken burgers and their "hot" sauce is not even bordering on mild. Maybe bent should be calling them regarding Pain....???

I agree that taco bells "fire" sauce is NOT hot at all. but I also think the taste is alright, I'll use the sauce but 3-4 packets on 1 taco. I dont remember the old sauce.

taco johns have bottles of "cholula hot sauce" on their tables, well at least in my area they do. & cholula is far better than taco bells sauce plus taco johns is just better tasting IMO. for a greasy slimy fast food joint

For cheezy..xantham gum is just a thickener used like corn starch its more populiar these days, for people who are gluten intolerent.
its only purpose is to stop steeping in bottles that have sat for awhile nothing sinister lol.

sodium benzoate is used as a food preservitive its a bit iffy(read you don't want too much in your diet) not good for asthmatics and can spin hyperactive kids out lol.

I've actually had it on french fries and it wasn't bad....not hot at all, either. But yeah, those preservatives kinda make me nervous.

the hotness you feel from peppers is pain nerves being stimulated, so repeatedly doing this increases your tolerance to pain in general (which is why you can increase your tolerance to the pungency) this is what they're currently using capsaicin for with arthritis, its not reducing the inflamation it just distracts you from the joint pain and over time increases your tolerance.
i used to eat that sauce when i was young (and crazy enough to eat fast food semi regularly... you think what they put in the hot sauce is scary!?!?) and i thought it was spicy, it didn't make me go woohoo or anything but i liked it, now the last time i was on a road trip i had it and it didn't even register and i wouldn't even bother with it if i ate there again...

the restaurants that are "hot!" need to wake up, and make "melinda's original habanero" their mild, dave's original insanity their medium, cajohh's scorch hot, and sauce 10 their hot hot hot!

sorry defcon, your sauces would probably even still be considered unsafe :P lol jk, maybe waiver-only ... but still it amazes me when the servers at "hot!!!" restaurants ask how i can eat their stuff...

BIG NOTE: i havent eaten all of those sauces, but i have eaten the first and dave's original insanity... and with the description of the ingredients i beleive that those will be hotter than the ones i have tried...

and maybe they would include the sauces defcon 2 and 3!

I don't think they ever will because of liability consequences they'd have to possibly deal with.
