Tonight Hot Wing Challenge

So tonight at one of our (new) local sports bar we are doing a Hot Wing Challenge. Couple of months back, they had a special on the menu, Hot wings and Miller Beer for $10, consisted of about 8 wings, ranch sauce with celery, and a beer, not too bad.

Flavour wise the wings were bloody good!! Which was a little bit of a shock as 99% of restaurants, take away etc. places never achieve a good tasting Hot Sauce. Whether it be the usual menu item mentioning Hot Hot Hot and then suprise, suprise, no heat at all. So straight away the were kicking goals. The wings were cooked perfectly and the sauce tasted very habaneroish and smoky, was a dark brown/red sauce. The chef who is female, said that it was homemade entirely, with no premade sauce as a base or extracts.

So over a few weeks, some mates starting mentioning that the Hot Wings had to stay on the menu, and since then they have created a challenge. The challenge consists (i think, will confirm tonight) 3 servings of hot wings, 6 in each, and each serving HOTTER.

So will post further once completed..... hopefully, but all i can say is that im pumped!!! Really looking forward to it

So 7 of us showed up this arvo for a few beers, and then the hot wing challenge.

Had a look at the Wall of Fame, 4 photos, times ranging from 18:30 minutes to 10:30 minutes.

Rules were, 3 servings of 6 wings, total 18 wings, each hotter than the previous. 1 beverage of your choice, and a small bowl of blue cheese sauce with 5 celery sticks. Time stops in between cooking of each wings and them being served.

4 off the guys went first, 2 polished off the first and second servings in 50 seconds per serve. Said first was tasty, second was quite hot. I could smell the heat ? (extract)
Third serving and things got funny, sweating, shakes, couldnt chew, one rubbed his eyes, not a good idea. But they all finished slowest total time was 9:30 minutes, quickest was 5:29 minutes.

They all looked like absolute hell after it, puffy eyes, bright red, lips swollen etc.

So mine and the other 2 turn...

Finished the first serving in 1:04 minutes, second at 2:40 minutes. First was really tasty, second was tasty but seemed to only have a heap of extract added to the base sauce.

Now the third, starting burning nostrils even prior to starting. Tore all the chicken off first then shoved it in, no chewing, just swallowed, Horrible Horrible heat, only just managed to keep to down, but finished with a time off 5:19 minutes. NEW RECORD HOLDER haha, lots of pain, but good for a laugh. Wont do the challenge again.....

Now im definitely not a fan off extract sauces, chef didnt tell us all ingredients but had a bit of a smirk when i asked about the extract

Hahaha well thanks for the support. Will add today, was very painful as you could imagine. Guts were aching and on fire all day, still a bit tender. Oh well fun fun

Did ask the chef several times, but didnt get much other than a base of several types of chilis blended together, and then seemed a bit of a concotion of premade sauces mixed.

The kitchen is just behind the bar, and from where we were sitting noticed some Blairs Bottles and am sure it had extract in it.

I would like to know the proper ingredients because the first serving was awesome!!! especially if it was a homemade base sauce as i struggle to find any other type of fresh chili other than jalapeno
(and that still is hard to do)

Well thought i wouldnt do it again ever..... purely cos the taste of the 3 serving was terrible, but it was good fun and a good laugh so you never know.

The voucher gives you $40, 20 for food, one beer of choice, one whiskey of choice and 2 games of pool

Now me mate who i beat by 10 seconds wants to go Head to Head again this thursday. Im not so keen, im already winning, what do i need to prove????

Main concern was the pain i felt in my gut for the next 36 hours, dont think the extract liked my body too much
