Barbeque Sauce made with fresh or frozen pods

I have a barbeque loving friend who is going through some rough times right now. He has an enormous pequin plant that he lets me ravage fairly regularly. I want to make him up a batch of spicy barbeque sauce to help lift his spirits - and I would love to be able to use some of his or my own fresh pods to give it some personality.

I cannot seem to find any basic barbeque sauce recipes that use fresh pods or puree- everything seems to use chile powders. Does anybody have a good recipes they wouldn't mind sharing that use fresh pods or the like? Alternatively do you know a good way to convert a bbq sauce recipe using powder to one using fresh peppers?

Here's the closest I was able to find with a quick search:

This one seems a bit bizzare - I'd prefer to go with something more traditional

This one sounds pretty good, but I'd like to see other recipe's to compare

Thank you!

the 2nd recipe actually looks reasonable, but extremely spicy for the amount of chile to other ingredients.

Justgoogle upBBQ sauce recipes, there are a million out there. I don't knowall the nuances of Carloina-v-Tennesee-v-Wisconsin bbq sauces. Each has their own profiles. Just find one that looks good. The thing with subbing in fresh chiles is the flavor profile of the chiles and to a small degree, the moisture content. Fresh chiles will add more liquid to the sauce so you may need to reduce other liquids in the sauce or cook it down for a little longer.

I'm not personally familiar with the flavor of the pequin chile, but if I remember other comments, its a bright flavor like a cayenne, not something smoky or citrusy. Should work great in a sauce.

This one: http://bbq.about.com/od/barbecuesaucerecipes/r/ble31017c.htm calls for dried pods, but it rehydrates them in water first. You could just use your fresh or frozen pods and skip the rehydration process.
