Yeah... I remember my Dad telling me about some studies done in the 80s down in some tropical rain forest where trees would become infected with an unfamiliar pathogen in one area... and several miles away trees of the same species would begin to develop antibodies to that pathogen even without exposure to it directly. They theorized that the trees have an underground communications network where either the trees own microfibers did the communicating... or that possibly symbiotic fungi's mycorrhyzal networks played a part in the transmission of information.
