C.tovarii

I've never had issues germinating them, but this season I was only 2 for 8 and those were seeds from my 2015 plant.

Years ago I chalked up all the horror stories to old or bad seeds, but it does seem like these things are tough to germinate.

I think most folks are used to seeing seeds germinate in 7-10 days, one out of 50 tovarii might do that. Stay patient and don't toss out seeds before 90 days. Remember too that oxygen and water go hand in hand when sprouting seeds. Keep your mix like an extra moist cupcake. Can't keep a seed soggy wet for 75 and expect it not to rot.

Last years plant was snapped in half a couple times by wind so didn't get the beautiful frame that they typically have.

Awesome pics. I was 5 for 5 on tovarii all germinated within 11 days I think. Felt bad tossing out 4 plants but looking forward to watching the one I kept progress.

Just double checked my notes it was 15 days not 11. The first seed popped in 11 days and the others over the next 4. Cheers

Really nice John your plant is a real winner, I have several tovarii seeds in a planter now at 14 days I gave them a soak for 20 hours in a dilute plant growth hormone to break seed dormancy but I didn't use the right amount and I don't know just how old the seeds are I plan to remove some of the seeds and give them a good soak in the right amount like I did with my lanceolatum seeds I have two healthy plants out of 4 seeds they popped in about 5 days after soaking in the right amount of growth hormone.

Apologies for bumping somewhat of an ancient thread, but I've been digging around looking for seeds for this variety all morning and I have not had very much luck at all.  Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
Matt

While I can't help you with your quest (There are others here that can.) I've always believed using a thread that is relevant - no matter how old - helps your case rather than hurt..

Thank you guys.

I did see the ones for sale at fataliis, but it that is indeed quite a steep price.

Ya 35 euros is tough, but they are quite rare indeed.  You're new here tho catchthebear, so I advise you to stick around and get to know this community.  With some time and genuine interaction chances are you'll find someone who can make a trade.

Right on.  I've been lurking here for some time now, but with Google+ closing its doors soon I plan to migrate here and get to know folks in time.

You can see what I've been up to the past couple years over here if any interest: https://plus.google.com/u/0/109862258565844243512

i don`t have them growing yet but i have seeds and will start them soon. i know it`s a late start but if they germinate i plan to overwinter the plant(s) to keep them going.
That sounds like a good idea.  I had good results from that seed stock (4 out of 6), but it took some patience. My plan is to put them out for the summer then bring them back in for overwinter.
