Are humans really the dominant species on Earth??

Have you ever taken a walk thru a pristine forest where few humans have walked or effected in any way??? Thousands of different plants and trees are thriving-often doing betterthan in nurseries or botanical gardens.Clearly they dont need us!!!!If the human race waas completely wiped out by some flesh eating bacteria, the plant kingdom would still be around and probably doing better without us. But if a virus wiped out every plant and tree on Earth, the human racewould not make it another fifty years. The oxygen, a byproduct of all photosynthesis processes, would not be enouh to support both animal and human life. Maan can live as a vegetarianbut would soon perish if he ate only meat and fish. So man can not live without plants. We are totally dependent on them for life. This alone places the plant kingdom as the dominant species on Earth.
So why dont we treat our plant brothers better? Why are we destroying our tree stands and rain forests for the sake of  quick buck? Why are we destroying our natural habitats while letting our world population grow out of control? Isnt it time we look at plants as our Earth brothers and start treating them with due respect? One starts feeling this kinship when you grow your own peppers. Personally, I am one with all the plants I grow.I am more in tune with their daily needs and overall health.I worry with each hail storm and Florida freeze.I appreciate their contributionto our Earth.I give them their due respect as the dominant species on our shared planet.
Just like a friend, I pay homage by learning as much as I can about my plant brothers.I now recognize that my plants have actual faces. I have learned about the viral and parasitic enemies that make plants sick, much like a father would with his son. I no longer force a plant into the wrong place just because I have an empty space. I listen to my plants--they talk! They tell me when they are not happy so I change a variable such as light/shade, water, or location. I cringe when the nightly news airs reports of large forest fires. Senseless destruction of our century old brethren seem to fascinate us humans especially when the fire damages a house or two. I am extremely conscious of the plant life surrounding me now, where in prior years I would go about my selfish life with blinders on--totally unaware and unappreciative of the dominant species on Earth. We need to live in peaceful coexistance with the plant kingdom if we are to sustain life here on Earth as we now know it. So unite you tree huggers of the world and spread the word of the magnificent existance of our plant brethren.

I suppose my first question is what defines the question, "the most dominant species"? What traits would we (one of the species) up for the title want to say makes one species more dominant than another? Just because we find a particular trait important in dominance, does this mean that it really is ?
