10 awesome entries! Vote for the best Seafood Sandwich!

Which would you dive into?

Please read the descriptions so you can grasp all flavors and techniques.

Although I haven't looked at all the entries yet, I think Paulky should win just for the conditions he had to work under. That and his presentation with the firearms was commands respect too.

Have to go with Jay here. I like the layers of texture and flavors.

His perfect Guinness fish 'n chips that he's posted before, with a creamy pea puree (reminiscent of a mushy peas side) as a bottom layer spread, kicked up with unique peppers, one being citrusy. A nice cool/hot effect that complements. Same with the tartar on the top, another cool/hot effect with the needed lemon for this sammie. Being at each end none of these flavors will merge, so you get them all individually, but they all complement each other. The tartar strategically placed as to not violate the perfectly cooked fish with too many dressings, with L&T creating the barrier. But the filets nestled nicely in the pea concoction. Crispy exterior, flaky, with heat in the batter, and in the fish via the marinade. Different pepper flavors per layer. A handful of double-fried chips and malt vinegar add texture and flavor to the middle layer while letting the fish shine like a plate of your perfect fish 'n chips. Well played!

Paul, I'm psyched you got to enter your favorite of all TDs... SEAFOOD... while in a combat zone! I'm sure while creating and posting that it took your mind off of where you are and you felt like you were back home in your computer chair. If only for that very second, it must have been worth it. I'm really glad you got to enter. Thank you for your service, sir! These are really just for fun, so I know no matter how the voting goes, you already had your fun. Congrats.

Don't get all mushy, peas.

Too easy to vote for this one.  JT all the way.  Big ol chunky cod fillets that look juicy and flaky in a crisp batter.  Could have put them between two slices of wonderbread with mayo and I still would have voted for it.  But add the rest of the flavours and textures...BOOM!  Fish'n'chips with 'mushy' peas and twice cooked chips :drooling: .  Reminds me of the fish'n'chip sammies I used to make.  No tomato ketchup on mine, just fish, chips and malt vinegar and maybe a couple of thin slices of pickled onion.  And the images are in focus, props for that :D

I voted for Geeme.  It was the most creative thing I saw, but what really got me was the combination of flavors.  I had a really hard time wrapping my head around the peanut butter with the plum with the fish, but if you think of it as a peanut butter and jelly, it really works.  Musky's Walleye looks awesome, Booma as usual fantastic, TB bringing the Tex Mex, but it was G for me.

Thanks for the votes! To me, it does better to think of it as you would an Asian peanut sauce rather than peanut butter. And the plums are not sweet like jelly because they're at that still-not-really-ripe stage where they're very tart. But yes, I can see that many would have a hard time wrapping their minds around this - - likely you won't get it unless you try it for yourself. That aside, I've narrowed my vote down to two...... so hard to pick!

It sure was nice to get back to these throwdowns! What a wonderful distraction to the craziness around here! With 9-11 looming, everyone here is nervous as hell. Bad things happened last year, and now that dumbass in Florida, Terry Jones, is ,again, vowing to burn 3000 Korans...... :stop:

Thank you for all your support.....and the votes!

I went with Key's! I kept going back and looking at it again, and again...and decided if it were a menu item I would definitely try it!

I eat a lot of white fish, and am always playing around with fruit salsas/chutneys for it. That peach & walnut chutney totally got me!!!!
And that bread....my bread NEVER turns out the soft and spongey looking! NICE!!!!  :)

So many awesome entries!!! Some very exotic, and some downright comfort food! Great job everyone!!!!!

A couple honorable mentions: Agree with CJ on Key's bread. I wished I could reach through the screen and nab some of it. Musky's fish looked fandiddlyastic in the pic of it draining, but there was way too much tartar sauce on the sammy for me.

Since I generally won't vote for myself, then, JayT gets my vote, as it was the closest to something I'd actually eat. It was HUGE compared to how I usually eat, but I'd go for maybe 1/10 of it and let him eat the rest. Plus, I'm just so dang impressed that most of his photos are in-focus this time around!  ;)

slightly short on time here unfortunately.

So I went with a bit of instinct on this one. flipped a coin between Paulky and TB.

a few 2nds that I like, if I could vote a few more times.

anyways, Paulky wins the toss!

JayT's just hit all the notes for me. Texture, flavors, and he used my sauce.

Honestly I'm not big on seafood sammiches - I prefer sushi if I'm eating fish. But growing up in a coastal city I've always had a soft spot for well made fish & chips.

Some excellent entries here - the Mahi Cuban was a close second, and Geeme's PB&F might be the most fascinating & different entry over ever see n in a TD. There should be a special crown for "most original". Very cool entry Geeme. :)
