A Touch of Fire on My Steak

Tonight's supper: Rice-A-Roni (slightly burned), canned vegetables and steak cooked in my own make-shift fiery-hot BBQ sauce.

The Sauce:
- One finely chopped Ghost Pepper
- One tiny chopped onion
- A few pickled Jalapeno's
- A teaspoon of Blair's Sudden Death Sauce (see: http://extremefood.com/explore/mid/home/ )
- Sriracha sauce ( http://www.huyfong.com/no_frames/sriracha.htm )
- Lime juice
- Water

The steak itself was boiled in water with about a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil & a dash of salt until darkened a bit. The water & olive oil was drained then fresh hot water was added (about a cup [250 ml]) along with the sauce.

From there it was cooked until most of the water/sauce mix was evaporated down to a slightly-thick sauce.. Albeit I got distracted and a bit much evaporated.

Tastes GREAT - in my opinion - and slightly less hot than a fresh Ghost Pepper. :)

What cut of meat is that?  Never heard of that cooking method before.  Interesting.  Sauce sounds good.

That sauce looks damm tasty. and HOT! :flamethrower: :woohoo:

Oh it is! I think the Jalapeno (which I added as filler) helped add to the flavor a bit.

I cooked the steak a bit too long, I think. If you like it a bit more pink & juicy you could do without the pre-boil. The sauce might do with a touch of flour or some other additive to help thicken it. :)

If I hadn't just ate that Ghost pepper whole the other day this would probably be too damn hot for me. Think I'm going to start making a real effort to keep my heat tolerance up. lol

According to the label "Silver Inside Round Marinating Steak".

I tinker with different ways of cooking. A friend said it was "blasphemous" to boil the meat before browning, but I wasn't sure how the sauce would turn out so I wanted to make sure the meat would be cooked through.

(p.s. I have to admit - I'm not exactly an expert at cooking steaks - i.e. I've never learned how to properly marinate a steak lol)

I thought maybe it was a crazy Canadian thing eh?

Nah. Just a me-thing. I tend to be all trial-and-error. Which explains why my first attempt, back in the early summer, to grow peppers crashed and burned. I've learned quickly growing is one place it's best to learn from others, starting out - at least in my case. lol
