Devv's 2014- Stick a fork in me, I'm done....

Time for the 2014 start...

Many of these plants were made possible by the generous people of the THP sending me seeds and pods Thanks!

I'm looking forward to warmer weather and dirt day!

I have a bunch of seeds started, and plants at all the stages.

Here's the grow bench, a T8 x4 on top and T5 x4 on the bottom, as you can see it's loaded.

I like starting the seeds in Jiffy Pellets, as soon as they stand up I trim the mesh off and plant them 1/2" proud in a pot, or in this case a cup.

A few plants living under the T5, I'm super impressed with this light!

Thanks guys, I had a blast and look forward to next season.

I see a few germing already, and that gives me the itch.

'Yall stay warm!

Scott,  It is about time you took a break.  I know I have had a lot more time on my hands since the peppers got pulled up.  You sure are setting the stage for your 2015 grow.  Can't wait to see how the garden goes.

Enjoy some time off!

Thanks Bill,

I have wood splitting going on until this weekend. Then I till the garden and plant another cover crop of rye. If I let it grow too long the root system is a bear to break up. So I'll have a few weeks break before the seeds go in the dirt.

 Thanks Jamie!

Yeah, old man winter hit us early this year. A good 30-40 days earlier than usual. Maybe he was telling me something?

It's sure been a wild ride Scott, and lots of good production and info here throughout the season. Hope you get a good break through the holidays and come back stronger next year. Cheers!

It sure has Rick! Seeds will be started in 3 weeks, and here we go again!

Jedisushi06 sent me some seeds.

I opened the envelope and shook it to empty it, the seeds just kept coming.

Some nice heat there for sure.

Thanks Mikey!

East Texas Heat said:
Whe I'm surprised the envelope didn't spontaneously combust with those varieties inside, nice score there!

Yeah, I agree! Some real heat in there ;)

You might have to expand that garden space for your 2015 grow!

I'm already starting to worry about space, I'll make do with what I've got ;)

Scott,
Sharing the heat.  The popcorn one is a favorite of mine.  I still need to work on how I dry pods so the color does not get as washed out.  But at least they do not lose heat!

A while back I dried out some pods that had been frozen and the pods dried out almost translucent.  Keep their original colors, but translucent unlike the dried fresh pods.  Live and learn!

 Bill,

PaulG dried his at a very low temp 105° I believe, it takes longer, but the color stays a bit better.

Thanks again!

Scott,

Thanks for the tip.  I will try a bit lower temp for 2015.  My older dehydrator has been running non-stop for a few months now, so I decided to get a new one that is a bit easier to set the temp on as well as seeing if it will dry things a little faster.  I can say that the smell of peppers drying is as good as the smell of fresh baked bread.

Guess it grows on you when you are exposed to it so a period of time.
