Yes sir! All my starts were done at work, and the backups are all at the office as well (I dont have any floro's at home) and a 600W HPS is way too much for starting from seed. Plus, the office pays for the power on my heating mat, and the T8 bulb... unfortunately the electricity costs on those are negligible. I wish they were paying for my big bulb! ...but having a small sun in the office probably wouldn't go over too well. :fireball:

Co-worker's love it. And its always a great conversation starter for people coming through, everyone seems to be quite fascinated... especially after I show them what I have set up at home!

A bit off topic here... but was just going through some photos and saw this and wanted to share... last years harvest! Just 2 plants; 1 hab and 1 thai:

Great news! Turns out that the blossom drop I was seeing on the tomato might have been either the plant just settling into bloom, or the nutrient change I did ( 3Tbsp bloom, 1.5Tbsp mico, .5 Tbsp grow) in addition of the fan may have helped... Either way, I found my first tomato this evening!!!

I accidentally snapped off by biggest set of flowers on the Thai :banghead:  ,   but there are several others coming in nicely!

Thanks SG!

Ok Ok... I know this is a pepper forum, but I'm just so excited to see my first hydroponic fruit I cant help myself...

So when my girlfriend came over just now, I wanted to show her the first tomato on my plant (she thinks I give the plants more attention than her and always teases me about them being my "real girlfriends" haha) but fortunately she was here! I thought that little bitty one was my first, turns out that there are and handful I didnt even see! While trying to point out to her the minuscule thing I saw, she showed me about 6 more, much further along! I don't know how I missed them!!!

Able to snap one today without the HPS on...

And a few more updates today...

Doug

20140115_113706.jpg pretty sure Ive been over-feeding this little guy. Looks like a little nute poisoning

Thai

20140115_113730.jpg Thinking I may have some sort of hybrid here, the leaves are MUCH bigger than those of the mother plant. Maybe it mixed with the habanero, or one of my sweet peppers? This plant is grown from seed I saved from the summer garden.

Here is the mother plant (it's sad in my 61 degree house)

Ended up having to move my 3 best office plants to bigger containers... the cups weren't cutting it. Leaves were starting to get really crinkly.

won't be able to see your calendar soon. You'll have to play 'welcome to the jungle' when anyone comes to see you.

I'll have to get my Itunes ready, and move my calendar! I'm liking where this is going!

Thanks dash! Im pretty stoked on the progress so far! Cant wait to throw up some pod pics. Working on my patience, but waiting is so hard! :mope:

You wouldn't believe the smell when I open that closet door, pretty powerful! I happen to love the smell of tomato plants though, brings back childhood memories.

:woohoo: I have 2 surprise last minute additions to my grow. Doubtful they will be hydroponic, I don't have the room... Unless I can work some magic. More than likely they will just be office grown until I can throw them into the garden this spring. Either way, I'm pretty stoked about these 2 new varieties!

I will reveal them once I know for sure it's going to happen. And of course, pics to come. You all know I love photo documentation

1/19/14

Did a nutrient solution refresh today:

Tomato: 2 tbsp micro, 3 tbsp bloom, 1 tbsp grow (blooming and ripening) ~950ppm

Thai'brid: 2 tbsp micro, 2 tbsp bloom, 2 tbsp grow (transition to bloom) ~830ppm

Douglah: 1 tbsp micro, 1 tbsp bloom, 1 tbsp grow (general purpose/mild vegetative) ~500ppm

BrainStrain: 1.5tbsp micro, 1.5 tbsp bloom, 1.5 tbsp grow (general purpose/mild vegetative x1.5) ~730ppm

Few more progress pics:

20140119_121652.jpgPeppers getting big!

Thai'brid

20140118_122646.jpgQuite a few blossoms starting to come in, some getting large

BrainStrain

20140118_122702.jpgThick healthy stalk

Douglah:

20140118_122711.jpg Lots of undergrowth hiding under those big crinkly leaves

Tomato:

20140119_122651.jpg Huge root-mass

This will be my last plant update for a few days (probably for the better, that way I can let the plants do their thing and not feel compelled to be messing with them every day!) But I'm headed out on a 3 day backpacking/snowshoeing yurt trip in our beautiful Idaho mountains!

Here is a sneak peek at my fancy new digs for the next 3 days (from last years trip):

I just read your glog from start to finish, I like what I see.

I know zero about hydro growing, but it seems you have it down.

Good job!  Can't beat fresh winter tomatoes, we're growing some in pots, keeps the wife happy!

Thanks Devv! Glad you found it entertaining enough to read through, and hopefully it was at least a little informative as well.

I didnt know much about hydro either, but I'm loving it so far! You probably won't even have the need to mess with it living in TX... but if you ever do and have questions give me a shout!

So excited to try my first fresh homegrown winter tomato! Not only that, but my first hydroponic tomato!

Had a hell of a trip! That whole Polar Vortex definitely missed us, it was a balmy mid 40's @ 6500ft in January in Idaho! We were actually sunbathing it was so nice up there.

Came home to some great progress with my plants!

Also have some serious flowers on the Thai'brid at home, and some blooms starting to form on the Brain! I'll upload some of those shots once I get the chance...
