punchy's punchbowl - 2014

This will be my first serious attempt at growing.  I had some success with a half-assed try a couple of years ago, so I am encouraged  :D   Here's the planned list:
  • Sweet banana
  • Sweet jalapeno
  • Tabasco
  • Habanero (mystery color!)
  • Bhut
  • Datil
  • Super Chile
The sweet pepper seeds I got from Sustainable Seed Co, the tabasco and habs from a friend, and the bhut, datil, and supers from Flchilehead

I'll start the seeds indoors, then move them outside as they grow.  I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to plant them in the dirt or use containers.  Even with our (mostly) mild winters, the ability to pop them into one of the outbuildings is appealing.  On the other hand, dirt is free.

Good luck with your grow. It can be very handy to have them in containers. What's the coldest it usually gets?

Usually we only get a couple of nights below freezing, this year has been cuckoo with the high pressure bubble that won't go away.

Yea with that few plants I would do containers so you can plan for bad weather and if you want to OW any

Yeah agreed. Go with containers

That's kinda what I was leaning.  I'm hoping to end up with 2-3 plants per variety and any extra plants will get distributed amongst friends :)

Very nice.  Good luck on your first grow!  I'm sure you'll learn a lot this time around.

Why not add something crazy hot like a Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Blend to your list  ?

Thanks!

Honestly these are going to provide way more heat than I can handle anyway

Ok, sounds reasonable.  Let me know if you change your mind, I could drop some in an envelope for you to try...

Edit: ugh, can't stand to look at the meme I originally posted.

That's one of the things I'm afraid of, ha.  Tiny house + bad ventilation could spell disaster.

Haha it happens, gotta make do with what youve got. If you do feel adventurous down the line however, you wont have a problem getting some seeds around here :onfire:

Good luck with your grow this year!

+1 gourdmaster.  You will be the recipient of many seeds if you so desire!

So better late than never, I finally got seeds planted. I'm not worried, though, as I'm sure it's going to stay hot well into October this year

And I just ordered 4 more varieties.  Aji limon, Trinidad perfume, early jalapeno, and goat's weed.

I'm gonna need to find more space   :P

Got a couple hooks this morning - one broccoli and one cauliflower. Still waiting on peppers. At least I know I'm not killing off the seeds, though :D

The new additions that will hopefully get started today: early jalapeño, Trinidad perfume, aji limon, goat's weed, Trinidad douglah, Trinidad scorpion yellow, brown moruga, red fatalii, 7 pod Congo gigantic, 7 pod barrackpore, and black Congo. :p
