misc food manufacturing and co packing companies in uk

Hi my first post here but long time follower, from what i seen everyone is friendly on these forums.
I am at the beginning part of the sauce journey and i am trying to get started i havent even registered my business not sure what to do first. I managed to find only one company that will take my recipe and help me re-engineer it so i can mass scale test the sauce and find out the nutrition and all the begin stuff he quoted something like £1800 to do that is that normal they also are very hard to contact i call them they never pick up even on the mobile no given and i havent heard from them when i first asked to get things started. I was wondering if anybody knows any other companies that help you make a sauce from just a recipe and help you bottle it and label it i am from the uk and i myself based in london.

i know i can rent out a test kitchen and make the sauce their but i think i need some insurance or health certificates and other stuff not sure if i should go that route instead.

anyway complete beginner here any advice appreciated, but please keep it positive i already am feeling overwhelmed

Greetings!  :welcome: to THP.

There's several threads in the Food Business forum about this topic, and I've linked a couple below.  $1800 is not out of the realm for a co-packer to do a full work up on your recipe.

I believe that in the UK you can get licensed to process and sell out of your home kitchen.  Contact your local health agency first, probably the people who inspect restaurants.  They can direct you to the correct agency if it's not them.

Start small, get your recipe dialed in using weights for everything, even the liquids.  The more work you do yourself, the less $$ you'll need to pay someone else to do.

Hi I am also new in here. First of all congrats on your new venture. If you are not satisfied with your first agency then you should search for another. I am sure there will be many companies that are willing to take upon your idea. After that you will have to get the sanction from the authorities. There might be certain criteria and formalities for that.
And ya, make sure you do good marketing of the product. Since the competition is tough, you will have to gain the interest of people with good quality packaging and innovative packaging designs. That will be the first step to get the initial buyers, after that if the product is good, the business will gain. Once again all the best for your new venture.
