Has anyone tried fabric pots?

Hi

I wonder if anyone here has tried to grow you're plants in fabric pots? I think they looks really good and don't take so much space when not used. Shouldn't get as hot as plastic pots in the summer?
 
If you're talking about the bags I have seen a lot of pics of them being used in peoples glogs all the time.  I think they would work well.  I don't have any space issues in my gardens so I haven't used them yet.
 
Fabric pots are good because they don't get rootbound, naturally root prune. They cost a bit more than traditional pots.
 
There are plastic bags too that are easily stored with white on outside to reflect heat. They are cheapest container i could find. (note the fabric pots are 9 times more expensive)
 
Never used but heard great things, I have bought 6 smart bags in hopes of planting some rasberries/blackberries in a little later..
 
IMO..the ones from your ebay link will probably be fine but looks a little cheap, looks like its made from weed barrier to me, click on the picture here and see what you think

They work well. You can easily make your own by using a high quality landscape fabric and some quick stitching. I use a supplier in Toronto called Terrafix for my materials. http://www.terrafixgeo.com/ I buy the rolls that are 5'x360' for about $100.00 I am sure in sweden they have a similar product you can buy if you want to make your own. The good thing when making your own is you can customize them to your own shapes and sizes.
 
I will be using them for the first time this year. A little worried though, sometimes I have to water 2-3x a day during the hottest days of the year here in Florida. I think I even had to water 4x a couple times for a butch t I have in a clay pot.
 
Only got 10 fabric ones, and 25 plastic types, the year of the bags for me!
 
For making your own fabric bags, I buy the non woven geotextile 270R. The garden centers around here sell the product by the meter. This is really tough stuff, not home depot junk. I use this behind retaining walls, as a weed blocker, french drain systems. It's pretty versatile. If you want to make it impermeable you could stitch together a bucket made from terrafix woven geotextile 220W. I don't know whats available in your area but it's all we use over here. Check your garden center for a good thick landscape fabric, you shouldn't be able to tear it no matter how hard you try. I've literally used it to pull machines out when they get stuck and I have no chain or rope

I came up with an idea I want to try on my next set of plants. Instead of using a double plastic cup for my seedlings, I will stitch up a small cup sized fabric pot made from non-woven geotextitle to sit inside the watering cup. A side by side comparison of growth etc to demonstrate the differences between the two.
 
Heard good things so I ordered some 7gal fabric pots last night from http://www.gardenersedge.com/product.aspx?p=VP-RPXXXX. The bundles they sell are reasonable. I was going to order some larger sized pots direct from http://www.geopot.com/ until I saw the price of shipping. Seems like the name brand stuff is pretty high priced too.
 
I think they should work good as far as being able to move them and isolate certain plants. I won't be taking up raised bed space either. Also easier to overwinter I think.
 
Also bought some 3gal poly grow bags from my local hydro store. I'm pretty excited to try these out mainly because things are starting to pile up in the grow room with more on the way. I think these will be able to free up some space... or not.

          Just ordered 20 7 gallon gray fiber pots.I also will be using 1 15 gallon smart pot.It gets so hot in mid summer I think this is going to help keep them cool.

I did this year with quart sized bags. They're working well. Plants are maybe 40% larger in the bags than the solo cups, generally.
