Yaargh!'s 2014 and onwards glog

Hi all. I have yet, since 2010, to complete a season without interruption.  It looks like I am going to be sticking around my current location for the next 3-5 years.  With that, I've requested a community garden plot.  If things go as planned I will also have a decent yard to develop a garden.

No pics with the first post but I have made a start on germination and have a few seedlings with true leaves.

So far I have a few NUMEX varieties that have germinated: Espanola Improved, Big Jim Heritage, and Vaquero

From Tradewindfruit: 7pot Y, Fatalii, Padron (Tapas.. soon), and Mazano Orange (this guy has not popped)

Before I ran out of yogurt cups I managed to sow (from Midwest Chile): Scotch Bonnet MOA

I went a little crazy with seed orders so I have quite a few varieties.  I will germinate these seeds once I receive an amazon order of additional germination supplies.  I'll set up a T5 and get the germinated seedlings on the move in a few days.

As I get settled in my 2014 season plans include delving back into hydro and putting up a greenhouse. Other than peppers, I will grow toms, veggies, and make an attempt at growing a few fruit trees.

Sounds good!  You'll love them MoA Scotch Bonnets for sure.  Numex Vaquero was a very tasty Jalapeno for me last year.   Good luck in 14'!

My germination stuff and the T5 I ordered arrived today.

Sowed:
More SB MoA
Trinidad Scorpion Caramel
Trinidad Scorpion VV7
Jay's Red Ghost Scorpion

Bahamian Goat

Trinidad Scorpion Butch T
Trinidad Scorpion Morouga
Trinidad Scorpion Chocolate

7 pot Rennie

I have some more seeds on the way.  A few more weeks and the community garden will open here along with the nursery that sells a few varieties of finished compost by the cubic yard.  I need to make friends with someone that drives a pickup.

When something interesting happens I'll start posting pictures.

Might as well add a picture to this thread.  What I have here are the seeds I germinated listed in my first post including three fruit tree seedlings and three cups of tomato seedlings under a T5 2 ft. 4 bulb light.

I'm excited, my orange manzano germinated, first pube to do so.. ever.

Most of my seeds are patiently waiting to germinate in a rapid rooter tray.

The Scotch Bonnet MoA seeds I had sowed in the yogurt cups popped today.  Very excited to see how they will turn out.  There's some activity in the rapid rooter tray but I have yet to see any hooks.

Saturday update.

Spent a few hours in the community garden rebuilding beds.  I've got a 5' x 25' plot.  I'll probably grow my greens in the plot.  The house I'll be moving into has several established raised beds that I'll use for everything else.

A lot has germinated.  An order mix up pushed back the sowing of several varieties.  Noteworthy, the Jigsaw and 7pot Bubblegum have germinated.  Most of what I had ordered has germinated but most of them need to drop their seed caps.  Rapid rooter plugs have worked just fine.  For ease of transferring, I think they're better than direct seeding in a potting mix.  As far as germination rates go, never seem to spot a difference.

In the photo are all my current seedlings. Majority of the peppers are without fully developed true leaves. Things are moving along.

Nice list! And germination looks to be going well!
Hope you get the seed order worked out!

The mix-up was easily resolved, just waiting for them to arrive.

Ran out of potting mix, both of the SB7J seeds that have germinated have dropped their cases.  Finding a local source of potting mix will be my goal  today.

Several stores here have potting soil.  The problem happened to be that I was looking on a Sunday.  Other than the food store and a few restuarants the town I live in now essentially shuts down. Something to get used to I suppose.

I ordered a few more rapid rooters.  A lot germinated but a few will need to be sowed again with the order that should arrive shortly.  Varieties that did not germinate this round included the Trinidad Scorpion Chocolate, 7pot Primo, 7pot White, 7pot Brainstrain Yellow, Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, and Nebru.

Rest of my seeds and the rapid rooter plugs arrived yesterday.  I went ahead and sowed them.  One variety that managed to germinate that I had listed in the previous post was the 7pot Brain Strain Yellow. The other five have been given a second chance to produce.

I'm pretty excited that most of the relatively new varieties/crosses have germinated.  It'll be an interesting season.  The peppers/tomatoes/ and other non-leafy green seedlings won't be planted until May so there's some time.  The environment I am in normally experiences late season frosts.
